The Next Level of Succession Gaming - Masochistic - GalCiv Standard
from
Stardock Forums
In a succession game, members of a team take turns at the helm of a single player game, playing a specified number of turns before passing the game to the next player. Players from Realms Beyond played the first complete GalCiv succession game at CivFanatics, where we've been playing Civ3 succession games for years now.
Here is the thread at CivFanatics where the first game was played and reported:

The game was a rousing success, and we received positive feedback on the game and the reporting.
Following the success of the first RB GalCiv succession game, we embarked on a second series of games--this time open to a wider audience, and with increased difficulty. Three teams were fielded, with members from Realms Beyond as well as other empires. Two of the three teams have met their victory conditions, and the third is well on its way.
Here are the threads where the games were (are) played and reported:
Team G (still playing), with an alliance victory condition, no starting wars, and a final alignment requirement of >=70: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76736
Please note that any discussion of the Team E and Team N games should not be done in areas accessable by Team G while there game is ongoing. Thanks.
Team N, with a cultural victory requirement and an alignment requirement between 40 and 60: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76737
Team E, with a conquest victory requirement, no use of cultural or terror star starbase modules, and a final alignment requirement of <=30: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76739
So far, the teams have had a relatively easy time pushing to victory. That has been due to good play and good teamwork, but also because many of the players have more than a little experience playing and beating masochistic difficulty games. Some may say we have a bunch of ringers here, or that we've been sandbagging. To answer this, I present the next step in RB GalCiv succession gaming.
For our next game(s) we would like to host our first masochistic SG. Again, the game is open to anyone who chooses to join--provided you feel comfortable playing maso. I would like to get this game started no later than Thursday, so that we can complete play before the next patch. Game conditions are as follows:
Version: 1.13
Difficulty: Masochistic (All Incredible AI's)
Map Size: Large
Habitability: Occasional
Star Clusters: Loose
Political Party: Pacifists
Bonus Picks: 3 picks Sensors and Range, 1 pick Defense, Repair, Trade, Weapons
Victory: All conditions enabled
24 hours "got it" notification
48 total hours to play and report a turn
Twelve Turns (one year) per player.
Autoturn: On.
Changeover: At the beginning of the first turn of each year.
The targeted victory condition is (to paraphrase the owner of my favorite American Football team): Just Win, Baby!
Interested players should sign up in this thread. I am looking for at least 4-5 members. If there are more--then we will split into two teams. I'd like to finish sign-ups within the next couple of days, so let's leave sign-ups open through Thursday, when I will open the thread at CFC and start the game.
Comments and questions are welcome. Signups are OPEN.
