Help!Help! Anyone witnessed an error with the screen going blanck?

Does it do anything before it goes blank? Does the game load or is it crashing from the start?

If Gal Civ is the new game, and it's starting to load but it is staying black, that usually means that it's not loading some dlls.  

Installing SDC (if you haven't already) or re-installing it if you have may help:

I've had this happen when it's the AI's turn. It happens alot but then the screen goes back to normal once they complete their turn. I haven't had a case where I needed to reboot the machine.

When I start the game, my screen is usually dark for some time before the opening videos or screen displays start. I also get a lot of adjustments to the resolution as it starts up. Occasionaly I get a blank screen between moves, but the screen usually redisplays shortly. I am running on a fairly old machine of only 800 MHz. Am using a 128M buffered display card

Atually it is my moniter!I'm sorry i couldnt say so sooner but I was busy finding a moniter.

I haven't been able to play GC since I bought a new monitor a few months ago. When I load GC it takes the monitor out of sync and I'm unable to play. Any ideas on how I can change the sync rate or Resolution without having to launch the application?
