Is there a G.C. Editor Out There?

I was inquiring about this because someone submitted a scenario to this G.C. library and was wondering if there is a G.C. scenario editor. Just wondering....

P.S.- if not, then how the heck do you create one, because there isn't anything in the manual about how to do this.

The editor comes with the expansion pack, which is currently in beta and available only to Drengin.net subscribers. You can pre-order it on GalCiv's website.

I just wish there was a free editor for those who bought G.C. from the site or from the store (got mine from Best Buy) and want to create scenarios or campaines for myself instead of dealing with all the other namby pamby stuff. I'm not big on keeping scores (I think the highest score I had was like 8900 or something) or playing games (empires) with others online; just want to have wholesome fun creating different impossible suicidal situations. I guess I'm an evil war monger at heart. Love eating those Torians for dinner. :d

I think the editor is supposed to be the major selling point of the expansion pack, so it really wouldn't make sense to give out a free version.

There is a seperate editor that works for editing ships, events, parties, things of that nature at Spellforce's Mod Site located here:http://files.galciv.org/
It is on the left side icons, second to the last one (I think). It also gives install and update info.

You need AP for those anyway!

And remember, just because you can't play scenarios don't mean you can't download them ;p .

In theory you don't need AP to play scenarios. I've played around quite a bit with GC file formats and it would be fairly easy to write a map editor + scenario that work with vanilla Gal Civ. The toughest part really, would be writting the interface.

They'll just appear as saved games instead of "campaigns" or what not.

So where do you put .gcs (scenario) files in to play? I've tried putting them in the saved games folder and a bunch of other folders, but can't seem to load them as a saved game. I'll just wait for Altarian Prophecy to come out then.

You need Altarian Prophecy to play them, unfourtunately.

And it would also make sense if the editor worked with win98SE but it doesnt, so peeps like me who subscribed to Drengin find the whole deal a waste of time at the moment as ive only got a third of what AP is (game only, no editors)

The files are quite heavily protected - try editing and then submitting a game - you'll almost certainly get 0 points anomolous....

What!!!! :sniff!: >:( (:(

That is disappointing. Is this correct? The game supports 98SE but the editor doesn't?

I don't know about 98SE compatability, but the editors do have a higher DirectX requirement than GalCiv itself does, which could cause problems via driver compatability with DirectX9.

The scenario editor doesnt, cant speak for the others, CariElf is on the case to get it / them fixed though :) so fingers crossed. They do work though, its someting to do with the way they are encrypted when the data is saved , win98 SE gets all cranky when loading them back in, so it should be ok ;)
