what exactly is the "expanded universe update"?

its something i noticed a while ago underneath the galciv's title in the software window and i am just curious what its supposed to mean.

and speaking of expansions... do we have to buy the expansion pack? or is that something we can get if u already have a copy of galciv?

It's the first expansion, it's part of every version from 1.1 on.

And yes you have to buy the coming expansion as part of Drengin.net or seperatly.
