Where's my multimedia?

I played a few games right after I installed, both normally and in windowed versions. The movies and music played fine and were fairly substantial eyecandy. Since I've upgraded to 1.13 and later to 1.20 I have yet to see any movie at all, not even the pre-movie that loads before the menu. When an event movie (like first battleship or first colonization) is supposed to occour I get a still image. The only sound I get out of the game are sound effects. I'm not really all that big on multimedia (or I wouldn't have waited 4 games won before I posted this) but it would be nice to get it working. Is this a known issue discussed on another thread? If so, please link to that thread and I'll edit my post to reflect that the issue was resolved if that is indeed the case. If this isn't discussed on another thread, but you know how to fix it, please reply too ;). If it helps at all, when I installed from disk, it dropped the game into a different folder than the updates went into (but the updates disabled the old folder programs and the CD now points to the updated version, so I'm not sure how much the folder issue would affect things).

Anyway, little help?

Sometimes there's also an upgrade to the multimedia released at the same time an upgrade is released - as was the case a couple of times so far - including, I believe, the upgrade to 1.19 and 1.20.

What he's describing is what the game looks like with no multimedia installed at all, though. I would guess that the game looks in the gfx, movies, and Music folders, doesn't find anything, and just runs without the multimedia. I don't know why Stardock Central would put the game in a different folder from where it was already installed when you updated, though. Did you try just moving all the multimedia files over into the new folder?

Okay, I've got everything working again. What I had to did was uninstall and install a clean copy (making sure the folders for instalation were the default update copy folder and registration folder pointed to main folder of instalation instead of inside stardock). After I archived (this time) and updated I had multimedia. I held back on updating the multimedia and I don't think I'll do that till I'm not on dialup :P.

What have I learned from all this? I hate Dialup!
