Mardi Gras is a pain. One time I was trying to get to work on S. Carrolton and it took me 20 minutes to figure out a way around the damn parade.

When I first moved to NOLA, I worked at the Hilton. The first Mardi Gras I decided to work and let everyone else have off (nice boss, eh?). Anyway, I went to leave and go home in the afternoon, but couldn't find anyway to get there. I couldn't believe they would completely block off an entire section of the city. To make a long story short, I had to cross the river, turn around and get on the expressway in order to go the couple of miles to my house! After that, I never made the same mistake again. :HOT:

Well, I do keep being told that New Orleans is a nightmare of drunken, vomiting revelers :VOMIT:. I intened to head up to New Roads tomorrow (from Baton Rouge) which is reputedly more civilized. :)

Really, almost all of the drunken revelry is in the Quarter. I lived in Midcity by Carrolton and Canal. Even when Endymion or Orpheus rolled it wasn't bad. Well, it was crowded, but it never got out of hand. Besides, there are so many cops on a parade route no one has a chance to get too obnoxious. You never back talk or disagree with a New Orleans cop. Quickest way to the pokey there is. I've been to parades Uptown, too, and they are all good there as well.

No, I just turned around and took the Crescent City Connection back to over by OPP.
