Influence by any other name....

Prestige i think is excalty the same as influence. How is influence related to cultural resistence and loyalty?
Also does the "bravery" character pick do anything besides improve soldering as the game caption says other races will fear you?

If i understand correctly, I guess you could think of them as an attack and defense rating. Your influence is sort of your "cultural attack" rating, while your resistence/loyalty rating is how well you can defend against a cultural attack.

Yes, plus also you have to watch out for Morale factors (if the morale of your planets is low, they will flip to the other AI with the highest influence in the sector), so pay close attention to those details.

Thanks, I don't really no why one would want cultural defense over the attack kind though, it seems one could try to outscore an opponent with the attack style influence instead of only playing defence aand at best just staying even. The only way i can see it being uselful is if it is much cheaper and the playa is not interested in a cultural war or victory.

Also does the terror star have its own built in influence. I notice that there are % next to each stage like it is adding influence or something. At first i thoguht it was how complete the terror star was but at 30% it was finshed. Plus in the reasearch text it states that other races will be affected just by having the technology.

You need 4 modules to have a working terror star:
- terror-star shell (+15% completion). When this module is intalled, the completion goes from 0 to 15.
- terror-star bridge (+20% completion). When this module is installed, the completion goes from 15 to 35.
- terror-star core (+35% completion). When this module is installed, the completion goes from 35 to 70.
- terror-star (+30% completion). When this module is installed, the completion goes from 70% to 100% which means that the terror star is operational.

And there is an influence bonus (+10%) just by owning the terror star technology, as the text said. But by itself, the terror star hasn't any effect on influence.

If you want to join an empire, you may consider the Diplomats Empire: http://diplomats.galciv.org/. We use Terror stars in a pacific way: with lots of cultural modules :)
