Print a Tech Tree Chart

For those of you who would like a printed copy of the tech tree here is how I made myself one. (You do need a printer for those of you who are not "the sharpest sticks in the woods".) B&W or Color, doesn't matter (I prefer Color).
First download a program called Poster 7.9 at http://www.postersw.com. It is a shareware program which allows you to print banners and posters. It only costs $18 to register, but you can use it to print 10 times to try it out. Install the program once you've downloaded it. It didn't cause my system to crash and burn, and I didn't find any hidden viruses or anything like that.
Next open the Galactic Civilizations Surivival Guide. Scroll down to the tech tree JPEG. Click on it to enlarge the graphic. Click the diskette icon on the floating tool bar or right click on the graphic and choose Save As... Enter a filename of your choice or just accept the default techtree. Save the techtree.jpg file to your location of choice (such as My Documents).
Next run Poster. Choose Horizontal Poster, then Photo Enlarger. Choose File for the picture source. Go to the directory where you saved the techtree.jpg file. Open it. Choose Set Width and set it to 2 when the Picture Size Wizard opens. (That makes a poster 2 pages by 2 pages, big enough to read everything comfortably. Go for 3 or 4 if you want one for the wall.)
When asked if you want to add a mat select No. Next select File > Printer Properties to make sure your printer is set the way you want. The default selections at the bottom worked fine for me, but you may need to adjust settings if your poster doesn't print right the first time. Select OK after checking your printer properties such as quality and paper type. Next choose File > Print.
Check that 2X is checked, and select cutting lines and overlap edges. (You don't have to select cutting lines, but it makes it easier lining things up.) Click the print button. Once the four pages print cut on the dotted lines and tape together with clear packing tape (my preference over scotch tape). Now you have your very own Tech Tree Chart.
(Don't forget to register Poster if you like it.)
By the way, this is for information only and I do not want any flame mail if you have a problem. Figure out your own solution if this one doesn't work for you. I assume no responsibility, etc... etc... Peace.
