Terror Star defence upgrades

What is the point in them? I fully customised 10 Terror Stars with all the defensive additions even Avatar protection only to see them all wiped out by an Overlord...

Why doesn't the defensive add ons do what they claim to do (protect from Overlords etc?)

There are more defensive modules that you must build after you research them , such as KillerOverlordI and II, also check the library for some mods created about starbases. Also remember that you must have some military techs that will increase also your hitpoints, defense, attack, etc.

They do...but in your case the AI apparently had more military type bonuses that you get from research, social projects, and resources!
