Specter

After a long absence, I am back with another poem :D

Curse you, foul being,
Shadowing my soul.
Always there, ever present,
Waiting to taint my heart.

What are you,
Faceless Specter?
Why do you torture me so?
What have I done to deserve this?
You follow me from place to place,
And wait for your chance to strike.
Causing me to lash out,
And when my defenses lay bare,
You strike at my heart and my pain erupts.

Tears amuse you,
And you feed on pain.
Why must you be so cruel,
Foul creature from hell.

If only I knew who you are,
What your name may be.
Then perhaps I’d have a clue,
Of how to banish thee.

Restless wraith that haunts me so,
I demand to know your face,
Reveal yourself to me,
At the least that’s what you owe,
For all the sorrow and hurt you breed.

Come pitiful Specter,
Tell me who and why,
I must know or I will surely die.
What’s that you say?
Surely it cannot be,
How can it be possible that this beastly thing is part of me?

(Oh, self conflict poem....what'd you think?)

I'd use damned instead of pitiful. It gives it away too much.

I like it though.

Eh...I thought pitiful worked....and I think it'll still work

Glad you liked it though,

It's not a big deal, really. Most of your poetry is pretty good.

What does the Specter represent in you? I'm guessing each Specter is different for each person... Sort of like a skeletons in the closet sort of thing.

I'll think about what my Specter is...

A specter is either a ghost or something horrible you don't want to think about...and for everyone it's probably very different. I thought the term worked quite well with expressing certain things without a name...

So you aren't going to tell us what your specter is?

I don't blame you. Some things are better left where none can hear them.

Well...I haven't exactly named it yet...perhaps I have more than one, perhaps it is only one, maybe I know, maybe I don't...you see that's what you get with intangibility

Yes... Yes I do.

How do you make it so that you can fix your specter, get rid of it... or at least come to terms with it? That's a question that's worthy of a long introspective answer. (hint hint)

Oooh, eerie...

I think you're saying that the specter that haunts you is this side of your personality you dont want anyone to see. It's maybe your negative thoughts that put you down like 'i'm not good enough' or such.

Well that's what i get from this.

PS: it's real good, like the rest of your work zoo

I like it Shaun. And yea, everybodies specter is going to be different. I'm sure mine is totally different from anybody elses.

Nice work!
