Howdy, and Thanks!

Howdy, and Thanks!

About a year and a half ago, I was posting on the old MoO3 board, and "chatted" briefly with Brad Wardell, who was clearing up some misconceptions about GalCiv. At the time, I promised I'd give it a try, and fully intended to do so, but the sour taste from MoO3, along with a couple of other really bad games, made me rethink my game buying strategy.

Pretty much, I decided not to buy anything that hadn't been run through the mill, that I couldn't find good, open discussion about, and was being actively supported by it's creators. Suffice to say, most of my game purchases this past year have been seriously pondered and researched.

After lurking around here, following the discussions, and watching the fine tuning, I finally made the decision to download GalCiv last week, and after spending over 30 hours with it, I can only say:

Thank you.

I'm not going to bother enumerating all the different things that have hooked me, for hooked I am, but I haven't enjoyed a game this much since JA, or Civ.

Thanks also to all those who've posted strategy and walkthroughs, they were a great help in getting me started, hopefully my next Metaverse submission will reflect better on my use of that help.

Great game, and just what I was looking for.

So, Say No To Empires!
End of quote

Says the man with the empire logo beside his name... ;)

LOL

It's true empiring can alter your GalCiv experience, but speaking for most of us participating in empires I'd have to say the experience is much better! However, it's not necessary to join an empire if you don't choose to, so my suggestion to you is enjoy the game, look at what the empires do over in the Empires Forum and make an informed decision. Any empire would love to have an active (and talkative!) member.

And welcome to the Metaverse, land of dreams and the loss of RL! :HOT:

Well, that might be true if you look at the dates;)

However, the story is that..

I actually created Imperia Galactica before the 23/3, It was a solo empire for several days, but then they updated Metaverse and we had to resubmit the empires, I think it had to do with the empires logos or something. I was a bit late to resubmit for some reason, dont remember why at this time, but its still the oldest :)
It might be hard to prove unfortuntaly, but that doesnt matter, as long as I know. LOL

I was hoping some of the older members remembered it too but.. oh well

Appreciate all the advice, as well as the offers.

Though I'm a pretty competitive person, my business is gaming, and having fun has become a much greater factor in gameplay to me as I've grown older, and increasingly more "jaded" by the endless cloned offerings typically offered. I'm sure I'll reach a point where I'm playing to rack up scores, but right now that seems likely to be awhile away.

Having way too much fun now figuring things out!

Nidaros your empire is by invitation only, are you planing to open it for anyone interested?

You know that empires are not about scoring, at least most of them ;)
Even if you do not bomb a game a day i'm sure you will be welcome in any empire, cause we are all just here for the fun of the game ;)

Oh.. hmm.. Im not sure :) As I said, I dont pay that much attention to Metaverse or Empires any longer. But I like to have some control on who joins so I think ill stick with invite only :)
Im usually in the chatroom #galciv in SDC so people can reach me there, but I dont recruit the way other empires do :)

Thanks for the clarification, folks, regarding RL = Real Life.

Each day, I get more acclimated (sp?) to GCR (Gal Civ Reality). :)

Again, thanks to all.

After finishing and submitting my second game, I decided that the GG seem to be the Empire for me, and sent Theoden an email asking for admission, then I realized there were no requirements for joining, other than clicking the handy "JOIN NOW" button....so I did.

Hope that wasn't bad form, and that my play level won't get me kicked right back out. :)
