In AP-cant put stationary turrets on says UP resolution, but was no resolution

I know the number of modules can be limited by United Planets resolution, but there was no resolution but I cannot add stationary Turrets because it says a UP resolution. When I check under United Planets enforced laws, it shows nothing.

I know I had to pay 100 bc to add protection fields-but it would not let me add stationary turretts at any price.

Did you have 100 bc at the time? It may have given the wrong message.

It may have given the wrong message
End of quote

As far as I can tell this message only pops up if the cost of the module takes your BC total below zero. One problem is that if you have 150 BC total to spend and you buy a 100 BC module for a starbase, the 100 BC does not immediately get subtracted from your total. It gets subtracted at the very end of your turn just before the AI runs its turn. If you don't pay attention to your total before and after you buy the first module, you look down and still see 150 BC and if you try to buy a second 100 BC module, it gives the popup message refering to a UP resolution. The popup showing up is correct because in reality you are trying to spend 200 BC when you have only 150 BC to spend.

The message itself is somewhat confusing because it refers to UP resolutions that one normally equates with the in game UP resolutions.

One possible solution is to reword message to something as simple as:

"The UP has determined that you have insufficient funds at this time to build this starbase module"

and to have the cost of modules immediately subtracted from you totals. The second part becomes more important late game when BC totals might be in the thousands and you are doing several upgrades to several starbases.

It's a code thing, rather than a message thing.  I was just passing it the wrong message.

Hmmm..

Just played game using 1.49K and the subtraction problem seems to be gone in current build. So you can ignore my previous post about that.

OK I figured out why appears that it subtracts immediately sometimes and sometimes not. It depends on what happens directly after an upgrade.

Case #1

When I know I have a number of constructors arriving at various starbases, I usually do the upgrade that requires BCs last. In this case the BCs from the last upgrade do not subtract until you press the "turn" button.

Case #2

A contructor arrives at starbase that really needs an upgrade that requires BCs, so I upgrade immediately and the game goes to next ship that has movement. As soon as you press spacebar, arrow key, or ship auto moves the BCs are subtracted.

Case #3 Two or more constructors in a fleet arrive at the same starbase and you use all of them to upgrade with modules that require BCs. After you confirm the first upgrade, the game moves on to ask about next upgrade, without subtracting BCs. Only after you do all consecutive upgrades to a single starbase do the BCs get subtracted, and only after the next ship in line moves.

This last case is where you are most likely to go below zero when upgrading and get the message about UP resolution. Basicly its a minor inconvenience as long as you realize its happening and keep a running total in your head.
