Absolute newb needs some help

I am really not an absolute newb - i have played many similat strategies. This game is great!
But i do not understand why i don't have any money at all. Already 2 days reading this forum and no explanation.
Look at this situation:
1. I have maximized my economy and choosed economic type of government bonuses.
2. And here is the problem - planet quality 24, population of 12 000 , moral 70, taxes 18% and it gives me ONLY 21money!!! :sniff!:
3. Structures built: all for moral, economic capital, banking center and lower. Tried not to build some which cost maintanence.
4. At the same time the only computer player have planet with 20 quality, 870 population, moral 60 and earns 28 money for it...how is it possible!!
I looked at all the menus, tried to change the tax - moral falls down, tried different % on reserch, military and social - nothing helped.
I know it is not normal - i have seen planet with 150 money and higher, at the same time i bild for economy, and my planets give me less than 25
plss, pretty pls some help...
i lost every battle till now :sniff!:

um, dunno. raise your taxes to 40%? trade is crucial. get those freighters out. sell techs.....the AI luvs 'em

:)

For one thing the Taxes sounds too low.
I which I only lost 24% of my income to taxes.

My tax rate is often 40%. Higher taxes lower moral but there is no reason why you have to keep moral at 70%.

Do you have a trade route ?
Send some freighters to local alien races if you can.
trade gives me no more than 10 per freighter (small map) and I think that there is a limited number of operational freighters per race - something like 2races on the map - 5 trade lines (not sure about exact numbers)
cann't get 40% tax - moral crashes on the floor
pls tell me where am I wrong!!

Also what could you do keep yourmorale up is to go your planet and switch Propaganda on it might help for a while, it costs money though. I use it very rarely, but it does help you out before everything is back normal.
Trade, trade, trade.... this is the most important part of the game. Without trade you are DOOMED!!! With the trade you will be able to keep your taxes up to 40%, for me ideal 32-35% people are more happier and numbers of your citizen will also rise more faster. ;)

the value of trade routes rises up with it getting older, in other words the older the route the more you profit from it.
And try to built starbases with modules to help freighters(it can increase up to 50% profit), where your trade route lies.

also - the main question:
How it is possible to gain more than 30 from one planet with 12 000population, moral 70 (or60 but not less), quality 24 and taxes of 25%??
propaganda is too expencive...
my question is not directly for the trade - it's
"Why I cannot do it like the computer player?"
He has no trade either - we are all alone (heh 1 small race too but no trade between them)
Also I get mad of the promices the developer made - "fair rules for everyone, no computer cheeting..."
whatta nonsence! computer knows everything - map, enemy economy and military achievements - everything!!!

30 bc ???

you have to built: bank. centre, eco. capital, Stock exchange, Galactic Stock exchange(its galactic wonder), Anti-matter power plant - all these increase economy. And there are many more cant remember right now, you can check them in the game.

bank. centre, eco. capital, Stock exchange, Galactic Stock exchange - all these already built - no effect - i think no bonuses apply to me...silly isn't it :)
have you sold any techs?
also look at morale builds - soil impov, habitat improv, etc the stadium iz real handy.......
Try to get morale resources, these are quite helpfull.
Don't you think your planet is over-populated, just try it: built combat transport, get people in it and fly away with them, and you will see how morale changes. :)

I already noticed that fewer population - high moral - but how can i keep few pop. and made 130 money and high on planet - my personal best is 25 as i said...
moral buildings are built - almost no efect.

To make money build the following on a planet:

Habitat Improv
Soil Enhancement
Terraforming
Entertainment Network
Banking Center
Teleporters * (this is quite possibly the best improvement in the game, get it asap)
Harmony Generators
Stadium
Stock Market
Economic Exchange
Fusion Power Planet
Anti Matter Power Plant

With all those built, your morale should be at 100%, youve got pretty much every economic building, and you can crank up taxes to about 40-50%. If you do this, you should have an income of roughly 60 BC, if you put a capital on it, about 120 BC. The key to making money off planets is to
A) keep moral high
b) build all economic enhancements
c) crank up the taxes
d) get more people onto that planet (see A,C)

Your main source of income should NOT , however,be your planets. It should be trade. You can make thousands of credits per turn on trade, if you dont have trade routes, your in trouble. Even though they start out at like 10 BC, in about 10-15 turns you can be making well over 50 per mini freighter, and after about 80 turns 100-200+ BC a turn. If you put trading modules on all your starbases, you can get a 50% bonus per starbase (theoretically, you could build 4-5 starbases in the sector that your trade routes are in and get this bonus up to 250%). In my last game (huge, 7 majors, no minors) my trade income was 4000 BC before i alpha striked 2 of the major civs. My tax rate was at 0%, spending at 100%, and i was still pulling in over 1k a turn.

From what you have said I don't think your problem is in your economy but in your morale and freighter routes, possibly population as well.

In the early game concentrate on keeping taxes low enough to get your morale to 100% - mine normally end up at zero, setup lots of good trade routes to offset this loss, don't waste time building them yourself trade for them with the AI's, also the further they have to go the more they earn. The reason behind this is that it makes your population grow faster - more money in the longer term.

I notice you said they only earn ten bc's. At the start this is true but it increases with time - I can't remember exactly how much but I have had trade routes giving me well over 10,000BC's per turn before now. Although with the recent rule changes I only tend to get around 2,000/turn.

While your doing this make sure you build all PQ improvements, morale improvements and econ improvements I normally use the following build order:

Soil Enhancement
Habitat Improvement
Bank
Entertainment network
Fusion Power Plant
Research Lab
Embassy
News Network
Medical Center
Anti-matter power plant
Stock Exchange
Economic Exchange

Then with stadium and teleporters I normally switch all planets to building them the turn I get the technology.

Also make sure you get several morale and economic resources - just two of each will give you a 100% bonus :SURPRISED:

Also make sure your spend rate is as close to 100% as possible without you go into the red(this has a negative effect on morale)

Once you got that little lot in place you should be laughing LOL LOL as you will be able to raise your taxes sky high :HOT:

There are two caps to a planets tax, one at 2xPQ where there are minor penalties and one at 4xPQ where there is a HUGE penalty. Basically once your at about 4xPQ don't bother building any more economic enhancements - they don't get you any extra revenue and just cost you maintenance. Also remember PQ 14 planets and below don't yield tax - they cost you money, PQ15's break even, it once you get their PQ's above 15 they'll start earning decent amounts of taxes.

Hope this helps

What is the big deal of the espionage after all??
I managed to get 45money on planet :), but now the computer player has 3 times more powerfull ships than me and he declared war on me without any reason.

One thing I hav e found out in all my games is the in the begining the tasxes are negative at first then barely above 0 and eventually get a profit.

But like said in other posts. TRADE TRADE TRADE

I think you meant PQ 13 and below don't yield income (they cost resources to maintain), 14 breaks even, and anything greater than or equal to 15 yields income.

Espionage allows you to view the AI's statistics. It is very useful to know more about the AI when strategizing. You can check out all its abilities/economy/trade routes/morale/etc. once you have a high enough level of espionage.

All that as been said by nVariance, plus, ;) it can steal research technologies from that AI that you don't have. Though it happens very rarely. What could help you to steal is lots of money spend on AI(4 events must show-up[low-> advanced - > High -> Advnced(again)). From this point you can no longer spent any money on Espionage of a particular AI. Also Your survey ship may play a vital part in this, try to keep a track on how many anomalies it finds with 5% espionage, the more the better. Or what could you do is to get espionage abilities before you start your game.
;) ;) Hope its going to help , but as i said before it happens not quite often. Its up to you!
Good luck!!

I know it is a silly question, but what is your governement?

When you say it gives you only 21BC, is it the income mentionned on the planetary screen?
governmet is the first type - senate I think...
I managed to build up good :)) now I make 70-80 from planet, but computer build ships faster than me...and also better ships,...
pls tell me how to keep my people fewer, because when i get 40 000 people on one planet and morale goes down...I build almost all morale structures, 200% moral bonus, and low taxes (20%-30%)...and when planet's moral reaches 30, it defects to some other nation!!!
how could i deal with this problem???
this game gets more and more irritating every day,
i think i'll just stop playing if this "random" events keen frustrating me more and more
today some worms ate about 30 ships and 4fully upgraded starbases...gues whose...twice. the worms were too strong to kill with all may fleet...

Well imperial governement is the less efficient. Others allow, for the same rate, to have greater income and greater expenses. Which allow to build more ships, research faster new tech ...

I-League or cultural flipping could be annoying. A good way to decrease population on a planet is to send them off-planet with colony ship (no maintenance). And it coul be useful for increasing population in conquered system.

Your morale on planet shouldn't go down under 54% if you want some population growth. And if the morale is too low, they are unrest and the income from the plane drops dramatically.

When you speak about worm, you speak about the space sharks? You must watch to the attack/defense rating: when you attack, your attack is compared to their defense to determine the number of of hit point they loose. When they attack, it is thier attack against your defense. As the space shark have a high attack rating but a low defense rating, it is better to attack them first.
And experience (gained with victories) allow to increase attack and defense rating. So the more battles the space sharks win, the more difficult it is to beat them.

You could also look at what that planet has and maybe cut out some things to reduce maint cost.
