Crash on startup

I haven't been able to play this game yet except for the demo as since as soon as I start the game it crashes. It only shows a black screen for a moment.
It generates a debug.err file with the last line showing:

Debug Message: Create setup screens.
*DEBUG ERROR: *** MWinEditFields::Create - Unable to load sprite book ModAbilities ***

I upgraded immediately to the latest version (1.04a) after installation so I'm not sure this would happen in version 1.0 as well.

System information:
Pentium 4 2.6 G
WinXP
512 Mb Ram
GeForce FX 5200
Sony HS73 in 1280x1024 32-bit color

Any suggestions?

Since I had nothing nothing better to do anyway

I decided to uninstall GalCiv and all the goodies I'd downloaded from stardock and went back to the base 1.0 install that I downloaded. This one at least works (Yeah!), so I guess I'm not totally done for while waiting to see if there is a fix. Better than the demo at least.

I guest you try to apply 1.04 patch, because the error message sounds like add-on problem. You can copy your save in case you need to reinstall again etc.

You should be able to download the current version now and it will work. We think that we fixed the problem where files were getting deleted.
