major major galciv glitch

i stopped playing galciv over a month ago because i got bored with it. the major glitch was i wanted to select a different race to be, like drengin or torrian etc., but the game doesn't let you. i wanted to play other players online, but there's no option for that either. if altarian prophecy allows you to do all this, then i'll buy it, otherwise this game is boring to me. that's the one big major reason i crossed over to playing stellar frontier instead. alot more action & fun and you can pick the race you want plus you can join a fleet and battle against other fleets in real time online. if you can make galciv similiar, i.e. making it playable online against other online players, and being able to select a different race, then i might come back to galciv. sorry guys, but the real time action is for me. maybe you all should give it a try, come on, don't be a scaredy cat. stellar frontier can be downloaded from stardocks' game update tab. and if you're a drengin.net member, i'm pretty sure you get stellar aces for free.

From what I've read over the months I don't think playing another race is ever going to come to GalCiv, and Frogboy has made it clear that its the same for multiplayer. Maybe GalCiv2 though (he said multiplayer is still being considered for GalCiv2), but that might even be a streach.

The whole idea of the game is to take the Human race to victory. It was never intended to be a Torians to victory game. They are merely snacks. LUNCH! :d

The best you can do is change the options for each race as much as posible.

As I understand it we will never see a multiplayer of GC.

What are you expecting from playing another race? Let's see what are the difference in Galciv between human and other (background history aside):
- human start the game with neutral morality. The AI can have various moralities.
- human change morality with events. I don't know if the AI get such events and how they respond to
- each race has a color and unit ships design
- the various AI have their specificity for their behavior. Which will be lost if the civ is played by an human
- I am under the impression that AI get ability bonus linked to difficulty. But there are no specific civ bonus: they choose their political parties and picks like the human. Some are favoured.

So aside starting with a non-neutral morality and having another color and ship design, I don't see the point about playing another major civ.

Why did you buy it? It never said you could be other races. It never said it was multiplayer. If you wanted these, why buy it in the first place?
