Intra system migration

In my current game, I have a PQ28 planet, in a system with 3 other colonies with PQ under 20. The PQ28 planet has a morale of 100 while the other 3 have one of 55-65. Since the PQ28 planet have a lot of unused population capacity I would like to be able to move some of my pop there, but doing so moves an equal number to the lower PQ planets. A simple way of doing it would be to have intrasytem migration, from low morale/low PQ colonies to high morale colonies.

You can build a colony ship, launch it with, say, half the system population (half the pop of each planet), and then drop them all on the PQ28 planet. This destroys the colony ship. An automatic relocation system might be nicer, but it's usually not a serious problem.

Hmm. never thought of that, I thought you could only drop it on unpopulated plaets or on the system as a whole.

It would be nice to be able to decide witch planet would recieve the population from a transport. Thst way I'd not waste 50 construction point on the colony ship.

I have seen AI systems with half the pop on the lowest PQ planet (PQ15) of a 4 colony system. 6B on one and 6.1B on the other 3 planets as a total. I know what happend, but I'd hate to have that system flip. In this case morale for the 4 planets were 1, 100, 100, 100 respectively :D

It seems that when it comes to loading colony ships AI stands for "Actually Idiotic" as it always seems to load up 50% population which always leads to the situation you described - Come on guys fix this stupidity.

I think it may be possible to use transports to shift population around. I really don't remember, I usually use my overpopulated planets to produce combat transports, so I'll always have a force ready.
Anyone know if I'm right about the transports?

You can use transports on multi-planet systems to even out the population (load and unload, maybe several times, and the populations will tend towards parity) but not to distribute preferentialy.

Ideally there would be intra-system transports which would automatically distribute people from overcrowded planets to less crowded ones.

In RL overcrowded populations move to more attractive countries all by themselves, so there is no reason not to scale this behaviour up for an interplanetary situation.

MtD!!

Try to use propaganda on your planets!
you know when you are looking at your planets screen you will see on bottom left side, DETAILS, switch on propagnada there! it' ll help a bit, max you gonna spend on it is 12bc a month per planet!

to boost you morale, try to build morale improving buildings! That might help.

AtG thanks for the tip, but I do know how treat the effects of the problem (I do use propaganda, and improvements). What I want is a way to treat the problem, apart from building a colony-ship that is.

The problem is not so much that I have overpopulated planet as that I have underpopulated planets where I can't transfer excess population from other planets to. After all, more pop means more tax and more production.
