Score maxing

I got kind of abstract answers on my last post. I'm curious what I can do to increase my score both in game and before creation of the game. Obviously going crippling or masochistic gives you a higher score, but can you leave one or two races as genius in masochistic without affecting your score since it is still masochistic? Also does making everyone the opposite alignment from you help score? In that case if you made everyone chaotic evil, and you were chaotic good would that be maxing it, or do you need to go pure good against all pure evil?
Finally what in game increases your score significantly? Would I have a higher score if I got all my techs through research and didn't get any from trading? If I used mini-soldiers every attack so I didn't lose as many soldiers would that help? Or if I immediately had every ship run away as soon as it got damaged, and decommissioned ships that would get destroyed?
Maybe some help from the designers on this one, I really am having trouble squeezing out extra points. I see some people do all gigantic military to get their 60000 but I also see some people with only large, and alliance doing it.
Help much appreciated.

Galaxy size, difficulty and victory type.

Game version also has an effect. On AP maxed out scores happen a lower diffculties, lower galaxy sizes and alliance wins. In1.2 Giga, Maso (with 4 of 5 AI at incred) and mil win was the way to max the score.

You can squeeze the last points out by finishing off more of the tech tree. The further along you are the more points. But the 3 items I listed first have the most effect.

Finally never 'finish' a game before 2190. It cuts your score in half (or there abouts.)

Som of the others sould be along and let me... and you know where I've... how to say it... been mistaken. ;)

The score is based upon what level you set each alien too. Though I would wager that on the bigger size maps, you'll still be over the cap so in effect, it won't cost you anything.

You get slightly more for reasearch than traded but not much. Soldiers killed doesn't have much effect other than the population loss.
Military Rating seems to have some effect according to some, no affect according to others, but Kill ratio pretty unaminously has been decided to have little effect, if any.

So if I'm not mistaken you're saying the best chance for me to increase my score is to go to v 1.49. That's the AP pack right? I was gonna buy that but I was waiting for the final version. Is it all smooth and playable right now? No major bugs? If so I'll order it right now.
Thanks for the feedback

I haven't had any problems with it so far. You can take a look at the Bug thread at the top of the forum to give you an idea of past issues. I would reccommend buying it.

The current build of AP is good to go as far as stability and major bug removal are concerned. A few minor "string not found" text bugs still around, but CTDs are few and far between now.

Another factor that affects scoring is the alignment of the AIs. Not sure exactly how much it affects it, but you seem to get more points for having more evil AIs at startup.

I have found that having all AI set to evil give more points. More testing are needind to see if the player morality as an influence.

Building trade goods give you metaverse points. But building wonder don't seem to have any effect on your metaverse score.

Does your own morality affect it?
I noticed that it's a lot harder to be an evil race regardless of who the other races are.
So does that give extra points, or are the handful of bonuses for Evil considered to be enough (of which the only good one I've seen is the PQ one).

When dealing with good races, yes. And evil races care just about one thing: your combined military/economic strength. Evil won't help evil. But Good wil help good.

Bonuses for evil are considered to be enough: they are always positives, when good can have only penalties.
To summarize, Evil choice help you to have better planets, when good choice will help you with good races.

And there are a few things that affect only evil: some UP laws about restricting trade routes, and the fundamentalists

There is also one thing about metaverse score: you get a bonus for finishing in january 2190 and after. There is a x2 factor between winning in december 2189 and winning in january 2190.

I've always wondered about this, all the Civ type games seem to penalize early wins. Why? If I've played a faultless game and managed to win before the AI players have even built up I really think I should get double the score, not half.

A possible ateration to the scoring would be for the program to wait until all the useful stars are colonized, then see what percentage of the PQ15+ planets the player has and adjust the final score with this factor. This would mean that if a player gets a starting position where he has most of the good planets (s)he would score less than another game with the same starting configuration but fewer available PQ15+. - Maybe for GC3 ;p

I know one thing that is linked to 2190 and can explain the x2 factor: the demo. The demo end just after the december 2189. So I guess the x2 factor was put to reward thoses that played with the retail Galciv version since it is the only retail version can pass 2189.

And I know, demo is v1.03, can be played only on small or tiny map, with only the federalist party and no abilities. And since you don't have a galciv id, you will have trouble to submit games to the metaverse
