A few questions and comments from a new user.

First ill start by saying when i first started a game up i was a little dissapointed i was maybe hoping there would be more of a personal interaction between races and planets.like walking the surface and hand to hand combat :d.After i had played a few it grew on me of course(the space enthusiast i am),But i do want to say there is alot of lingo and greek talk in forums that makes it difficult to find answers to questions, but not to take anything from the game or the hard work you guys have put into it i will say its a Great game and fullfillment in a desperate time for space gaming.

My question is this:I am new to the site and forums.I have read a few of the posts but find myself asking more questions instead of answers.I would like to know if the 1.2 patch is worth the change from the retail? And what mods are the best, is there a rating for them?

One more question, When i try to download the patch v1.2 it gets about halfway through and quits?

Yes, once you've seen the update, you'll forget the old version. If you're experiencing problems with the update (the update downloaded from the GalCiv homepage crashed my GalCiv on a regular basis), get a Stardock account (free) and register GalCiv. The game will be updated automatically by StarDockCentral, no more crashes, easier to use the forum, etc. etc. Belive me it's definitely worth the trouble.

Maestro AKQ... It's a very friendly place here. Particularly to noobs.

Feel free to ask... for an explination or any question you might have.

I encourage you to have a read through the strats forum and ask questions there as well.

Finally about the mods... Anything with a SD approved sticker is safe enough. There are other mods without the approval that are also very good. There is not rating system for the mods.

If you intend to submit your scores to the 'verse you'll need to watch that the mods you use do not raise your civilization's PQ abilities above 40%. This would be civ wide not individul planets.

Ok, Damoose. Go back and read what you just wrote. That is full of the lingo of the Metaverse. LOL

For an English translation:

Don't hesitate to ask. You ask, and someone here will answer.

On the side are tabs to other forums. The strategies forum will provide you with lots of helpful tips.

The mods are great add-ons to a game. Any of them that read Stardock Approved on the right side are one that are guaranteed not to mess up your games.

And if you do submit, make sure that you are not increasing your civilization-wide abilties, available under the economy screen in the stats section, to above 40%.

The stat to watch is the one linked to Planet Quality

And this stat does not appear until there is a value of at least 5%. At least, I have never seen in below 5% and it is not there at all until 5% value appears.

Upgrade at once. You'll see better graphics, far fewer crashes, more random events and better game play. Stick to the Stardock approved Mods if you wish to compete on the metaverse. I would avoid those that sound too good to be true.. ie (this mod gives you 50pq on all your planets) if you wish to submit your games.
