The Mozilla Browser:

One of the next generation of browsers, this browser is a branch off of the Netscape technology. Netscape is pretty much at the limit it can evolve to, and Mozilla takes the code from Netscape, and it goes beyond what Netscape can achieve. Some of the features of this include a composer, e-mail software, pop-up blocker, and tab browser ability. While these are also in Netscape, the biggest advantage of Mozilla is that it takes the benefits of Netscape, and combines them with the comparatively few (from this writer’s opinion) benefits of Internet Explorer, and combines them into one. Another quality product to better your internet experience.

this is the general forums, so i don't call it spam, plus it's our thread we're not going to someone elses thread and spamming, this is our new project to bring the members of the galciv community news on software that makes online life easier or more versatile, if'ts it's a diservice for us to use our time, finding software, testing and writing up reviews, then by all means i'm sure we can oblige and refrain.

empires got moved out because ppl got tired of reading about them in here.. and they ARE relating tol the game of GALCIV ..

Do not single this thread out that is the biggest insult right there.

Empire threads were moved out they cluttered the main forum, because of the constanting posting, we actually discourage that the discussion IS set up at our personal forum.

Then think about those who found this information informative, they come here read what it's about and now they have to read your complaining and my rebuffing.

YOU came to our thread and posted off-topic, interestingly enough complaining about spam, i should say i dislike hypocrites in the same way you dislike spammers.

Ok.. so now you'd like me to go into and call vevery maiol off topic spam... if i do that then i'm get kicked... I do so on varous occasions when I read a msg which i think is related to galciv and then find it that its not.. yours is not the only one .. and i'm not the only one stating this on msgs that are not related to Galciv... so I don't state in other msgs what has been stated... I'm not picking on anyone... Simply stating a fact that the powers at large have stated in the past that this forum is for talking about Galciv..

the title of your msg Genesis of Tomorrow lead me to believe that this was a msg relating to the startup of a new empire or how an empire got started.. and as SPAM msgs go.. miss titling a msg to get ppl to read it is a form of SPAM .. this msg to my mind and no doubt to many others (who have called other msgs spam and who do the same as me by not re-registering the opinion that a particular thread is spam as spam) ... I have nothing against mozilla .. but we don't go onto the mozilla's forums and start talking about GalCiv... now do we... and whats mow i think that the ppl running the mozilla forums wouldn't appreciate it either.. Just because the moderators here are rather generous at letting some msgs through don't take advantave of it... as Stardock is and does pay for traffic that goes through their sites.. what you guys do in your own forums is your business.. just don't do it here... thats all i'm asking..

I amn not SPAMMING.. I am simply trying to fight what I see as SPAM and that is not the same unless I were to start a msg specifically relating to that subject like you guys have..

So take off your rose coloured glasses and see what youve done (not on purpose i'm sure) for what it is ... as just because you've done it and are interested in it doesn't mean that it isnt SPAM

I'm doing what I believe to be in the best interest of Stardock and their great game GalCiv and fellow participiants here.. If you don't like it then you can lump it... I don't care... if you wish to debate things then here is me email [email protected] so that we don't use up any more of stardocks bandwidth.. At least I give outr my email address to those who wish to confront me unlike some who hide behind the annon of these and other forums..

Sorry to all about carring on this thread.. it should stop now (if the other parties email me as opposed to continuing the debate in this thread..)

I would like to say after discussing some things with my comrades in the diplomats, that there had been a possible mistake, 1.) origionally I did not intend for this to come out as an ad, unfortunateley there was a miscommunication between me and the origional poster of this topic, i should have been clearer.

2.) second this is not a promotion for mozilla or it's not supposed to be it's supposed to be a promotion for our new project that is we actively search for and review software for the galciv community and have thread to discuss it in, we want to bring you software that makes your computer usage online excursions easier not get you to buy mozilla.

i'm very sorry for the confusion.

I too would like to apologize. This wasn't inteneded to come across as an ad for Mozilla. We wanted nothing of the sort. I wanted nothing of the sort. This is something resembling a huge communication foul up. We wanted to start technical discussions about some of the latest software out on the market. Unfortunately it came off as an ad.

We do want to have this discussion if you want to join in over at the Diplomat's halls.

Sorry for the confusion, and sorry for what has been taken as spam.

I use Mozilla and wish for the Galciv website to work properly with it but it doesn't.

Any discussion on how to solve this for me is welcome.

What pages are you having problems with viewing in Mozilla


I've just loaded this msg into both Mozila-FireFox and Myie2 (IE based tab browser) and thte only difference that i see is that the borders(the thin ones around the msg frames ) are a different colour ,that the "GO" & "Submit" buttons are slightly larger in Mozilla-Firefox, and that there is more Background space showen at the top of the Copyrite msg at the bottom of the page

BTW: I'm not dissing Mozilla-FireFox Version 0.8.0+ its a great browser and I use it as well as IE based browsers..

Well it seems this is sorting itself out thanks to the mature attitude of all involved, but let's try and keep things friendly here and reach a level of compromise acceptable to all.

To T3C and VoT, a good idea in itself (and potentially very useful) but possibly not for this forum - remember this forum is hosted by Stardock, a software developer, and they may not take too kindly to articles that could be viewed as "advertising" other software products.

So... where... well the Senate Halls is the ideal location for this sort of information, as it is used by many in the GalCiv community and not restricted by Empire membership or participation. There isn't an off-topic area of this forum, so... maybe we should promote the SH as a resource for GalCiv players, with off-topic areas etc. There is a link in the 'useful sites' sticky, but maybe it could be included in the Diplomats weekly news item (if it isn't already). A reminder about it in the next MV Review can be arranged etc, etc.

Quoting does not work using Firefox or Mozilla.

Hovering the cursor above peoples medals etc does not show the text box (eg 5 Game Winner).

Stardock Central does not seem to update since using Mozilla. This could be co-incidence.

I am still able to update AP if I cancel out of the attempted Stardock update before it shuts down.

The Website itself looks better to me under Firefox but that is probably personal preference.

Another thing, in Mozilla and not Firefox, clicking on someone's name to view their profile opens a pop up box with it in.

After this box has finished downloading the main page that you open the pop up box also changes to the character profile.

I have exactly the same things happening on Netscape. I don't know about SDC, but I remember a thread about that some time back. Do a search and it should pop up and one of them has an explanation.

First off: Mozilla and Firefox are the same at the core - they use the gecko engine which renders the html pages, so they only differ in layout and additional browsing features.

That's because the forum's quote feature uses IE-specific scripting functions - they would have to add a browser-check to include gecko-based browser support.

That's because gecko-based browsers do not display an image's alternate text (the alt="" attribute of the image tag) in a tooltip, but only the title (the title="" attribute). The solution would be to change the alt attribute into the title attribute, then both IE and gecko-based browsers would display the tooltips.

Ahhh but you can.... Use the Other browser... LOL ... this is why I use the one I do.. I can switch engines that it uses... IE or Gecko ;)

MyIE2.. it requires an additional d/load to get it working with the Gecko engine.. (even though it states it in a menu .. it can be done)

Thanks to the GoT team for their assistance. Thanks to your write-ups i have now switched to Mozilla and have found it a great browser. Still trying to get it fully configured (any suggestions welcomed - [email protected]) but it handles really well and the tab browsing is a big plus :)
