creating a desktop shortcut for a usb key, etc...

Hello,
I am a new object desktop user, and I was wondering if there is a way to create a desktop shortcut for a usb memory key, CD, etc., that appears on the desktop when inserted into the computer and disappears when removed.

Thanks

I suppose you can use this object https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=3825&LibID=3 that was meant for CDs. Just point the shortcut to the driveletter your USB stick appear in.

this object doesn't seem to want to let me configure it... the only right click option I'm getting with it is "remove"

You will have to run "DesktopX Builder" to do that and edit the script. Provided you have the Standard or Pro version of DX3.
If you have the Client version then you cannot edit the script in any way. In that case, I could parhaps make you a widget with preferences for you to edit such as picture, text and path. I assume it just uses a timer to check if the drive is accessible or not.

Just go to the New>Shortcut option on the context menu and point it to the drive
