i know i saw that, one of them i could possibly see cheating...although i don't recall him ever supposed to be having the expertise to do so, the other has the expertise but i can't see him doing it...so this is rather upsetting news.

have the guardians heard anything from lothmorg about this? it would be nice to hear what he has to say, i also wouldn't mind if stardock would tell us whether they are temporarily suspect or whether they found conclusive proof, not that they owe US that it would still be nice to know since lothmorg and renegade are both legends around the 'verse :notsure:

There is no comment yet in the Guardian forum in the Senate Halls, which is where I would expect to hear something. If Loth post in the Empire threads, you can all read what he says.

I hope that there is an announcement from Frogboy as to who and why people were removed.

If the people removed were cheating then good riddance. The metaverse and the galciv community are better off without them.

Newfy, I agree with you, IF they were cheating. But, we don't know if they were, or why they were removed aside from the comment from Frogboy. Without further information, I cannot say why they were removed.

Indeed but the implications are not something to look forward to cheater or not our top player, a respected member of the guardians, someone the majority of us who peruse the empire forums tend to like, a cheater as well as someone who lies about the time they spend playing the game to support that cheating? The other is also someone who is generally well liked although sometimes he tends to be at odds with the rest of the metaverse, also lieing and cheating? i don't like it one bit, imagine how that affects us as a community? will we continue to be suspicious of people will we a month from now say hey look at -new #1 player here- is he a cheater as well? will we be able to say that they are a honest champion with full conviction? not good.

Frogboy, I do hope that you plan an announcement to set the record straight as soon as possible.

just keep in mind as much as we would like one they owe an explanation only to those removed, but not to us, so don't be disappointed if they don't, but they probably will...

True, but the forums are in a bit of a turmoil and an announcement could go a long way to straighting this up.

Because these 2 players are of such a high rank and visibility I think stardock should say something.

We would not be this confused and disappointed if the people removed were relative unknowns pushing for a position in the 100s.

I think we all need to stand back a minute and wait for the official announcement from Stardock before we even comment further on this subject. Too many people saying either way could damage the reputation of the two people in question and cause them to leave the forums. Something I think we all don’t want!

Please respect their integrity and refrain from further comment on this matter. Hopefully we will hear from Stardock soon and this will rectify the situation once and for all!

i can understand that he would be.

We are not currently removing anyone for using "Cheese". Before we remove any scores for cheese tactics we would spell out exactly what those cheese tactics were. We would not arbitrarily decide someone had cheesed.

As for removed scores, we had our Metaverse moderators go through the data in the submitted games and penalize players who somehow figured out a way to submit the same game multiple times. Since the game has been out for over a year and we know that there are plenty of safeguards to prevent multiple entries thorugh the course of normal playing (i.e. normally it'll just replace your existing score) we can only conclude that some people had hex edited the game ID in their saved games or something else.

My advice is this: If you're submitting a half dozen games per day playing in gigantic galaxies and winning at the hardest level, it's going to send up a red flag. Common sense should tell you that. And remember that more data than is displayed is sent with that saved game so we can tell if you are sending the same game.

does that mean you have assuredly found evidence of such, or are you currently investigating what the moderators have found?

The moderators feel convinced in the problems with many of the scores of certain playrs.

Sending legitimate duplicate games (i.e. you have an old game you saved and submitted and go back and replay it knowing new things and resubmitting it) is still fine.

The duplicate games we're talking about are where someone has, we believe, modified the actual file on disk (or as it's being transmitted) to make the database think they are two different games.

question, how do you figure this out exactly? i think you mentioned earlier you rebuild the game and look at it?
