How does the final score get worked out.

I cant see why I am getting the scores I do. I have worse scores on Crippling than I do on Tough sometimes. What is the main thing that contributes to a high score?

Alot of things contribute to your score. The biggest contributers probably are moral, your average income throughout the game, any trade goods and wonders you have built are also pretty big in determining your final score.Just remember, play for fun.

Too be more general that Naqmir, the biggest contributer to your score is to finish with a military victory after Jan 2190.

Another thing is to play with the most recent version of the game. v1.20 for regular Galciv and v1.50 for AP Galciv.

Everything else is gravy.

Actually, besides the level of play, the biggest score contributors are victory type and map size. Your score dropped because you dropped the map size.

VOT is correct as well. The bigger the map size the bigger the score.

Depending on your type of play you can expect that the larger map sizes will take longer.

Stardock has not published the modifiers to the final score except generally.

It is safe to say that more of everything, population, morale, tech, planets, Trade goods, Galactic wonders and resources will contribute to a higher score.

Things that may result in a lower score could be very low morale, game that has a really high number of turns, any victory that is not military.

There is one exception to the military victory though. It is possible to get max score with an Alliance Victory (currently 60K) with a large map on MASO or Crippling playing with v1.50 AP.

The important thing to remember is to play for fun first score second.

Thankyou all for your enlightening answers.

Let me address the concerns: I assure you I am having lots of fun with this game, and scoring is second. However, when all things are equal, score is an imporant game parameter that I need to grok :-)

I love the subtle twists that happen as you move up the skill levels. For instance I only saw "Take your miltiary out of sector (x,y) otherwise I will do it for you!" from Tough upwards. (I was only trying to help kill some escaped prisoners -honestly, the cheek of those arrogant Arcaens sometimes...)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHH! I gotta read these forums more often! LOL For instance.....I have played on beginner level for some time and always wondered why other ships can pass through other sectors without being harassed by sector owners. I find out here that it happens on the higher levels. :D YAY! I've been looking for ways to improve me score for sometime, this alone gave me tonnes of ideas. WOOHOO!

These forums have a lot of good players who offer help improving your game. One of the reasons I personally love the game. Stardock is the best gaming company there is hands down. :D I have to brag up Stardock they rock! :d
