Bug Reports for Gal Civ AP v1.50

I have been getting a large number of CTDs on a new game I just started. Every 3 - 5 turns CTD (crash to desktop).
I am running no MODS, special maps or campaign.

CariElf can I send you the save game?

The Altarians declared war on the Alexians. Just before their warships arrived at the Alexians last planet, I invaded and captured the planet. I parked a Corvette and a Star Fighter on the planet. My relations with the Altarians were either Warm or Friendly (I'm not sure which).

The next turn the Altarians attacked my planet without provocation. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I'm guessing they still thought it was an Alexian planet.

I think I may still have a save game from just before the sneak attack if you are interested.

I tried 2 different games again tonight. I get 30 or more turns into the game and the cursor changes to 4 green slashes and then CTD.

CariElf do you want the save game ? Would be nice to get a response about this.

Here is a link to a thread on this forum with a bug report that is showing up on certain computer systems where there is no mission description text, no mission objectives text nor teams text prior to any scenario in the AP campaign.

The United Planets screen from the foreign policy screen (the one with the pie chart) is messed up because it doesn't have places for the Drath and Korx. Also, the window below the chart that is supposed to show current laws instead says the percentage for one of the civiliztions that got knocked off.

I get quite a few CTD's myself, but I noticed they only happened after I loaded a game.

Corupt saves, I guess. Which is irritating enough for me to not play it anymore. Oh well, $20 down the drain.

I mentioned this in a topic earlier, but if you play a map [in a campaign or not] where the human player starts with more than one planet, the "just colonized the first planet" movie plays. The screen is also messed up, since you can see the "choose research" menu up at the same time...I'll try to make a screenshot of this.

I'll be fixing the bug where the human player gets that movie if there's more than one human player at the beginning.

CariElf, someone suggested that perhaps my save games are corrupted and that is why I am getting a CTD. I load the game make some moves press turn and CTD.

would you like the save game or have you seen this and a fix is in the works?

it's possible.  Go ahead and send them to me, along with any mods you might be using.  Just make sure that you say in the e-mail why you're sending them. I get a lot of e-mail. :)

I'm having a tad bit of trouble submitting my latest game to the Metaverse.

I already submitted one game to the Metaverse with AP with absolutely no problems whatsoever. However, I just tried to submit a game a few minutes ago and I got an error message saying that I was using an unsupported map or scenario, despite the fact that I was on a completely random map without a change of rules. I am working on a campaign of scenarios, but this was not using anything from it. I can provide a save if it's needed.

Fleetlord. This is a problem that I have both posted somewhere in this thread or one of the earlier ones and in private email to CariElf. The problem is once you use a non-Stardock generated custom map or scenario the system keeps that information until it is reset either by loading a Stardock generated custom map or specifically going to custom map, selecting "none" and then going back to the standard random map you normally use.

There is a fix, but you may or may not want to do it yourself. You can edit the SaveEndGame with a hex editor and about the bottom of the first page shown in most hex editors you will see a MAP information. Starting at the Custom Map ascii, change it to "None" and then swich over to the hex data and enter "0" until all the text for the type of custome map is eliminated. This will allow you to submit the game without changing anything else about the game.

Or, if the discusion of the last few days (or has that been weeks? :) ) make you fearful of doing that, ask CariElf to do it for you. She may or may not.

I would hardly be one to impose upon the staff my problems [it really isn't their job to cater to every individual, after all], so I'll edit it myself. Where do you find a hex editor, though? This is the first I've heard of them.

Go to google and type in "free hex editor" or just hex editor if you want shareware and those for sale. Almost anyone will do.

Guys;
I started having frequent CTD with GalCiv 1.20 and figured an update might fis, so I downloaded AP v.1.50 and installed. The problem has persisted. It seemed a bit random at first and going to a recent save USUALLY allowed me to go on but the problem seems to have become more regular. I get a CTD whenever I attempt an invasion and my most recent one occurs when forming a new colony. I have gone back a half a dozen turns and replayed and still it CTD at this point.
I will save the save game for reference. Just ask and it shall be yours .
Any help would be appreciated.
I had played with few problems, regularly until a couple of months ago. The problem has started just in the last couple of days as I resumed playing. Other than Windows update and updating my Office apps, I have installed no new applications that focus on multimedia since that time. My drivers have not been updated since March which is before this problem reared its ugly head.

I'm not too sure if this was already mentioned, so bear with me. :)
I colonised a planet in the same sector as the Toreans. After a few turns I was warned of my planet being assimilated on a cultural basis, thereafter the Jolly Roger icon appeared. I took measure to make sure my planet would remain under my control indefinitely and at one stage I had more influence in the sector....and yet the icon remained. >:(
Is this a bug, or am I missing something obvious??
Thanks

It is not a bug. Once it appears, it stays for quite a while, perhaps for the rest of the game.

Its a bug, there is only one way the jolly roger goes away. When a planet has a jolly roger icon and it is taken over that icon is reset.

I was hoping this was fixed in AP. I find the little Icon annoying after you have fixed up the sector with more influence.

Well, if it is not fixed from one version to another, I believe it has become a feature :D :D LOL

When is a bug not a bug? When it is never fixed.

As I understood it, the jolly roger icon is intended to remind you that you failed the first cultural resist roll and that if you fail a second time, no matter when during the game, your planet "flips".

Captain Wow: If the save game is from Gal Civ 1.2, it could be the change in save game format that is causing the crash.  If you send me your save game along with any mods that you're using, I'll take a look at it.

Yes, that's correct.

CariElf;
No, it was an AP game all the way. As was the previous one that I managed to get through. Thanks

I have now seen the following event twice: When the UP votes to share techs and you vote for 2,4,8, 16, I get the response back that they voted to share 8. Then I get the response that unfortunately, I was so far advanced that I did not receive any techs, but the others made out like bandits. then I start receivin techs, 56 of them, 8 from each AI. Something wrong here in the state of Denmark :D LOL :D

I would prefer that it works similar to morale. Once you get Morale fixed then that icon goes away. Once you get your culture fixed (jolly roger icon) then that icon gets reset and goes away.

CariELF I want to ask a question about the metaverse. There is a player ranking 94 that has no name and no way to clik on him to find out who he is or what games he is submitting.

Can you fix that?
