Problem with Terror Stars

I'm not sure exactly as how I'm supposed to use those. I've read in several places so far that they can blow up star systems, but I don't know how to tell them to do that. I try using them like I would a colony ship, by making them go to a star, but they won't attack or anything. It's nothing more than a mobile starbase, as well as a waste of resources. Is there some special command I'm supposed to give to make those things wipe out star systems?

You can only attack enemy star systems with a Terror star.

Even if you don't want to directly attack systems, there are other nasty tactics that can be performed with other add-on modules. Thus, the terror-star isn't a complete waste if you never destroy a star.

I would enjoy the possibility of destroying non-populated stars. It would bring a whole new perspective to the strategy part of the game. Destroy all non populated stars within so many parsecs of my systems... :HOT:

That's kinda a neat idea, destroying empty stars... no reason why you shouldn't be able to... though I'd think that by the time you could afford Tstars only junk stars would be left.

terror stars are great when they are maxed out with cultural mods. i dont even bother blowing stars up anymore, i just park them in an aliens sector and wait for the planets to defect.

why dont u just move your constructors?? it is way too expensive for nothing the slight difference between these two is that you can move it, but i rather make a lot of starbase than one starbase that can move, if you can afford it i dont bother but still

yea, but remember that terrorstar bug. my last game i had a terrorstar that could move 8 spaces in a turn, due to that bug. my terrorstar was actually faster then my constructors since they could only move 6 spaces :D

i really hope they dont fix that bug

Well, I hope they do. A terror star slowly lumbering along is a giant "Game Over" sign waiting to happen. If the culture modules don't flip the enemy first, the main weapon will take caer of the problem. An artificially fast terror star is a "Game Over Real Quick" sign. Sure, no one just wants to keep pushing the turn button when the game is obviously over, and fast terror stars end the game quicker, but that is why there are multiple victory options. I just think that this bug is unbalancing.

Personally I don't see what the big deal is about terror stars- their mere prescence squeezed the victory out of my game plan. Deficit spending can be a horrible, horrible thing.

Does anyone know if the AI will build terror stars? Also don't forget the mobile resource feature. Make a terror star from a SB oribiting a resource, and move it, the resource comes with it. Useful for getting those military resources into your sphere of influence.

I have seen the AI in the process of building a terror star, but never seen one completed.

I think it was in a game where I already had a TS.

I haven't used one in forever, and I haven't seen the AI try for several patches.

That's too bad, it would be a neat AI routine to see them trying to sneak one in.

I had a game in a Huge galaxy where three other races besides myself each had a completed terror star, so they do definitely build them all the way up. (I was way ahead at that point (had 3 stars myself) so I never saw them do anything with their stars, but they were indeed completed.)
