AI Intelligence File

I currently have a map that I really like, but I want to bump up the AI. I should be able to generate a new map with the same basic settings, but with increased AI, and then just copy certain files from the old to the new, right?

Nevermind. I found the files after a little fiddling. Resources, Stars, Planets, Ships.
I'll play this a little to make sure I don't have any problems. I post again if I do.

I love this forum. Oh, I don't plan on submitting to Metaverse anytime soon either. I just like having fun. :D

That would certainly be an interesting event...you're playing against the brain-dead Torians when suddenly their race undergoes a psychological transformation (a futuristic "removing of the crayon", if you will) and becomes the most intelligent race in the galaxy.  Hopefully you were nice to them when they were dumb, cause if not...hoo-boy!  ;)

As for being able to change data in the file, I'm afraid they're pretty tough to alter outside of the game.  For right now, the only way around it is to start a fresh game  :(

That's pretty much what I did. I had a great starting map, so I saved it during turn 1. I have been starting new games based on that map, but I only had the difficulty on Normal. I wanted to bump it to Intelligent and use the same map. I did get it to work - kind of. I'm not convinced that I didn't overwrite the AI file. I was getting a CTD after turn 1 with the above files, but then I copied the FOW, Influence, traderoutes, and maybe something else (I can't remember) and it's not crashing.

On a side note ...

Anyone know how to update the mini map when you move a planet (in the Stars file)? ;)
