Okay, I've submitted the beta to be publicly available to all Drengin users who have selected "show betas" in the Drengin Game manager.
I haven't done this before, normally IT does that sort of thing so hopefully I did it correctly. If it doesn't work, just post here (it's past midnight and I'm the only one left here
).
A few notes:
1st:
## MANY MANY MANY FEATURES ARE NOT IN YET DO NOT EVALUATE THE GAME BASED ON THIS BETA. ##
If you've ever been in one of our betas before, you already know how crummy they are at first because we focus on the guts of the project first (Object Desktop, WindowBlinds, DesktopX, Entrepreneur, etc.).
## Particular game bugs of note ##
1) If the TURN button doesn't come back, you can hit the ENTER key to cycle through. There's a bug where once in awhile it will fail to return.
2) The Diplomacy screen has lots of issues:
a) If you tell them to delcare war on someone, it gets it backwards. Will be fixing that shortly. Don't use the "declare war on.." feature.
You can't currently pay X per turn. It's all bulk right now.
3) Metaverse is started. In theory the scores should be recording to your Stardock.net account. You will need to register your account though. That is, you'll need to tell us what name you used when you submitted your score along with your serial number from Drengin.net (or GalCiv). Only then will it display it.
Naturally, it's not working either way right now.
4) The AI still sucks. And at higher levels it just flagrantly cheats massivley. This will change over the coming months as more strategy is implemented.
5) The docs shoudl be out by Monday. We're running a bit behind on those.
6) The library area is up but we haven't submitted anything to it. We have a handful of new technologies and ships that will be going up there in coming days.
