.event files question

i wanted to see the programming behind the .event files, so i downloaded one from the library and opened one with notepad in a separate directory from the galciv directory. but now all the .event files show up as a notepad file instead of the "unknown file" type. will this effect the game when it tries to load an event? and if so, how do i assign .event files from being a notepad file back to the "unknown" file?

It should not effect the game.

To change it back -
open windows explorer
select the tools->folder options menu
select file types tab
scroll down & select the .event file type
select Delete button - you will be prompted to confirm this option
