im lost, please help....

hello all. as you can prolly tell, im new to this site, and new at the customizing. i just got the desktopx, theme manager, icon packer, windows blinds, and i dont know what else...
my first question would be why is it that i can not download any of the neOS skins? there are some really nice ones there, and i can not get any of them.
my next question would be, i saw a screenshot on another forum, and was refered to this site to get the taskbar. it was a neOS theme he said, and the taskbars do match indeed, however, that user had it configured so where all of the quick launch buttons were sitting on top of the active window buottons, but all on the same taskbar. kind of like having a dock included in the taskbar above the active windows buttons. it was a grand idea. and i cant find any of the skins that have this set up. is there a way to make that happen to any skin? or is it a customization of the neOS somehow?
i am a registered user here, so i dont know why i cant download the neOS themes.
your help is more than appreciated!

mushuriyu,

I am not sure about the taskbar set-up, but if you are talking about the neOS WindowBlinds - you can try going here Link, and right-click the download button > select "Save target as..." > save to say "My Documents" on your computer > then install from there.

I hope this helps.

To modify the taskbar, first right click on it and choose "unlock the taskbar") then you can drag the top of the bar upwards (assumes you bar is dock onthe bottom of the screen) to create a second level or row for toolbars, windows, quicklaunch, etc. The hard part is moving the different items around to get the quicklaunch on one line and the open windows on the other. There's no way to easily explain it but if you move quicklaunch next to the start menu then drag the end (grip) of the menu to the far right and up it should set to one line. It's probably going to take some trial and error on your part but once you get the way you want it then "Lock the taskbar" Note that this is something you can do with the native XP theme. Windowblinds is not required. It's not a "skin" setup it's simply a taskbar configuration.

thank you guys! your instructions were a huge help. i am almost all the way done with the way i wantit to look. i have one other question:

i have noticed that on a few shell downloads, in the preveiw photo, there is a how can i say this, object dock if you will. i dont know if that is the right thing cause i notice there is an object dock section here, but i didnt find what i was looking for there. it was like a widgit so to speak and it contained drop windows with sections for programs, or paths. kind of like a file cabinet. i have seen it on several screen shots, but cant find it anywhere in the downloads of the shells. what is the correct term for this widget like thing, and where can i get it? or if i do infact have it already, how do i find it and place it on the desktop?

thank you for you continued help!

Sounds like either ObjectBar, or a DesktopX Dock to me.

You can go to the screenshot you saw, then copy the address (Ctrl+C), then use the "Link" button in these comment sections to enter a link to the image.

Someone can then use the link to identify the program for you.

its not object bar...thats like a dock that is on mac, this is more like a widget, it has some features, but mostly, it has a button, and when pressed, a drop window appears, and in that window, are bottons to toher programs or paths. shortcut, or filing cabinet if you will. kind of like the system monitor i have seen in some screen shots where you see whats going on in your drives and such, same kind of idea, but for files, paths, and drive access, not just monitoring. i still cant find it.

thanks for any help you can give.
