Research Period

On testing the BETA I was building Sensors and time frame
was 120 months, next turn it was 1000 months, on all Available Techs, including Sensors. Did not note any changes in my Economic Screen.

Sometimes, but not at that stage, curious.
How large is the largest Galaxy? At this point, no matter what size I select they are all the same number of quads.

That would be a bit odd. Tiny is 3 by 3. Gigantic I think is 12x12.

According to the file English.str in directory galciv\data

Tiny = 3x3,
Small = 5x5
Medium = 7x7
Large = 9x9
Huge = 12x12
Gigantic = 15x15

However, I am currently playing a Small galaxy that is only 4x4.

I always play on Large, seems to be the most fun.

The galaxy sizes in build Beta 1 deviates from that stated in file "english.str" in only the small, medium, and large galaxies. I think someone missed something somewhere. The sizes in the file have a nice progression to them but the sizes we accually have does not.

Here is what is current in the first Beta for galaxy sizes compared to the listed sizes:

Size name English.str Beta 1
Tiny 3x3 3x3
Small 5x5 4x4
Medium 7x7 6x6
Large 9x9 8x8
Huge 12x12 12x12
Gigantic 15x15 15x15

Does anyone have a running OS/2 version they can use to check what it had? I think it had 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, and 15 sector sides, just like stated in the file, but you know how memories can lead one astray. In any case, it felt very odd going from a 3x3 galaxy to a 4x4 galaxy.

I suggest the sizes listed in the file would be a better set.

Cheers,
Jack

Been considering reinstalling OS/2 just to check and compare. Perhaps I will this coming week.
