I just bought my honey a new car

conservation on my mind

I just completed a transaction to get my wife a new car, all done over the phone, fax and email,

tonight at about 7:30 I will take delivery of a brand new 2005 honda civic hybrid {47 city 48 highway} with gas prices what they are
in california I figure she will save about 6 bucks a day just in gas {she commutes 64 miles one way 128 miles a day} her present car gets 24 miles a gallon so she will be getting 2 times the miles per gallon. yayyyyyyyyyyy

total cost including tax and liscensing is 20, 845.42 7 grand down and roughly 358 a month payments.

color is magniesim and the car comes loaded , no options available because it already has everything.

I sure hope she likes it, heh

Let me know how you end up liking it.  Is that the CVT model?  I think that the 5 speeds are supposed to get slightly better.  I drive 110 miles per day, so I am curious about them.

Remember to get you tax credit at tax time

she loves it, its the civic hybrid, {check out stats online} it took 4/10ths if a gallon to drive it from vacaville to home 23 miles. It was a huge suprise to her when bob pulled up in thew car... she was wondering why I was cleaning her old {2003} car out, I just mumbled alot and told her go relax you have had a long week, she knew something was up, but did not figure it out. HA! SUPRISE!

Yeah.  By "CVT" I meant the automatic trans (CVT stands for Continuously Variable Transmission).  I believe that the stats for the 5 speed version are a bit better.  CVT comes in at 48/47 (48 actually being City) and the 5 speed (MT) comes in a 46/51 (which is due to the transmission difference).

I'm curious to see if it ends up getting 47ish mpg.  I have not seen many "real world" reports on it to know if the numbers hold true.  My car gets 30 mpg, but I could save a lot if it got 50 instead.  The calculator on Honda.com claims that I could save about $6,000 in 5 years if gas prices keep around where they are now.  Even at $1.80 per gallon, it would be almost $5,000...... and a lot less gas used.

yes...it is an auto trans of a sorts. and I will have more to tell after todays trip to oakland from home. I will be able to figure out 148 miles driven {appx} and gas used. altho somewhere on the dash is a doo hicky that tells you mpg and how many miles left aat current mpg. ouch my head hurts.. to many dialies and dohickies.
