To change the My Bluetooth Places icon you have to make two changes to the registry since the icon shows up both in the My Computer display and also on your desktop. First search for the registry key {6af09ec9-b429-11d4-a1fb-0090960218cb}. It should be under HKEY_Classes_Root. Expand this key and you should see another key called DefaultIcon. Click on that and then change the default value to the path of the icon you would like to substitute (note, if you are pointing to a .ico file, then write it as follows - path\filename.ico,0). There should be another key just above called {6af09ec9-b429-11d4-a1fb-0090960218cb}. Expand that and repeat the same process to the DefaultIcon key there. Refresh your desktop and My Computer views and voila! Custom icon bliss. I use iconpackager for most icons, but they still don't include a lot of common icons like this - rather sad if you ask me. You can use this same technique to change any desktop or my computer icons by finding the key numbers (known as CLSIDs) under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace. Enjoy the icon modding goodness!
