I've stopped
reading
capital P
Poetry.
That mantle
must be intimidating
for those
attempting it.
So many try
and treat the form
with the reverence
of an ancient god
afraid to
drop their pants
and moon the form
for a laugh.
How do they expect
anything alive to come
from such respectful behavior?
It's just
poetry
stray thoughts
that don't fit into any
other form.
Be quick
be smart
be new
be entertaining
and if you can't be
these things
then join your
stale pals on the
Poetry Shelf.
