Hopeful Suggestions/Queries

I've spent probably 7 hours playing already and a few things have stuck out as being annoying or frustrating.
Lack of before-hand knowledge of whether a planet will or won't have resources.
What does adding a point in the empire creation to a ability actually do? what is "speed" - manufacture, propulsion, or something else?
Sometimes turns go by with my realizing that i had done some action that signified i apparently was done with my turn (i realize documentation isn't out, but what makes auto turn go?)
A really useful feature i think, would be a more comprehensive multiple-race comparision screen under foreign policy. Perhaps something similar to the Stats screen from MOO.
Also, a rating of your own military and economy under the terms strong/weak/etc would be nice for comparisions for those whose brains don't operate in histograms.
Having a right-click help/popup feature would be absolutely amazing in helping figure out just what a little number or attribute actually does, not just what you think it does.
Hopefully that was coherent and makes sense to everyone else too.
