Crashes with 1A

Since downloading and installing 1A I have had a series of crashes with the game.
The first time I figured it was because of restoring a saved game, so I created a new one.
Each new game has crashed at some point. Each crash occured when clicking on an item on the right side of the screen, either a ship in the list, or a planet, wether on the solar system list, or the all planets list.
I'm running WinXP, 1280x1024, Radeon 8500, Dual Athlon MP 1800, 512mb.
