Object Dock Plus

Object Dock Plus on startup or a restart issues a "recovered from a crash message". I use two docks, and the tabbed dock usually disapears. I can recreate the tabbed dock, but the next time I restart the crash recovered message appears and the tabbed dock is missing.I have unstalled and reinstalled the program several times. The computer is an AMD 3000+ with a GB of memory. Running XP Pro with SP2.

I used to get this until I excluded OD+ from AV scans. The AV scan slows things down and you computer ends up shutting down, before OD+ has had time to save settings.

You have to exclude the files in "C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus" as well as the files found in the Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock

Another method is to unload OD+ before shutting down.

Howard,

Have you tried clearing the ObjectDockPlus cache?

If not, you could try the following:

- Save your theme via the dock settings dialog.
- Unload ObjectDock Plus
- Open "My Computer" and go to "Tools > Folder Options > View tab", select "Show hidden files and folders", then click "Apply".
- Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\"user account"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" (where "C" is the letter drive, and "user account" is the name on the account when logged on), and delete any "ObjectDockPlus" folder found there.
- Restart ObjectDock Plus (the default theme should load).
- Use the Dock Settings dialog to load your saved theme.

Note - if using System Tray functions = Quote from read-me file: "The Stardock MCP (sdmcp.exe) must be running to use the tabbed Tray to display system tray items. It is included with this installer and as part of Stardock Central. If this is the first install of ObjectDock Plus, a reboot will be needed to start displaying most system tray icons".

You can check for this via the Task Manager processes list after loading ObjectDock Plus, to see if the program is running in the background.

I hope this helps in some way.

K was faster, you could try my suggestion if K's does not work for you, though it probably will.

Thanks! I have excluded od plus from the anti virus program. The Stardock sdmcp.exe is running. I deleted the cache and restarted. All seems to be ok. Thanks again for the help.
