What version am I running

I don't know why you think the set up screen should change, most updates are just to get rid of bugs and errors. I keep updating it and I've never noticed the set up screen change, not even with the expansion beta. If stardock says you have the most up to date version you probably do

in the game menu screen (start a game and hit esc) you'll see the version number up at the top of the menu

I downloaded 1.03, 1.04 and 1.05 and my computer started crashing everytime I closed GalCiv. So, I installed from the CD onto my laptop to do a bit of QA testing and then went to StarDock and downloaded all the updates. Fired it up on the laptop and the setup screen looks different (more streamlined and with less choices).

[It also looks different from a display perspective but that is an entirely different matter. (The laptop actually looks better but that may be a video card thing. I have a nice $200 video card on my desktop and the program seems... well dark. However, on the cheapo integrated video card in my laptop, the program is gorgeous).]

So, it seemed like something changed somewhere?

I see 1.05 but not see the actual build 1.05.xxx??

for that you'll need to check your registry

run: regedit
hkey_local_machine/software/stardock/dregin.net/galciv/
read field Version
