I am totaly outclassed from the AI :(

Hm somehow I cant manage it devlope as fast as the AI does in my last game the AI have already 2x the production, Technology and Economy then me and this at Jan 2182. The seting I used are Catwalk and Dumb AI. Looks like I am a very bad Galciv player if even the dumb AI does much bether then me. (:(

Are you purchasing any ships at all, and what setting is your habitable planets?

No I havent buyed any ships till now the major problem I get is that I run very fast into minus Income and then I am happy to have money on the side.
(I realy dont understand the economy model this game is based up)
I use the common habitable planets setting and only colonize Plantes with a rating over 10.

You shoudl only colonize planets with a rating over over 15 really. Anything else is a waste.

There is a walkthru now in the manual which is in the GalCiv encyclopedia section at the top of this page. It's still in development of course. ;)

If you're playing on a really small galaxy though, and you've run out of other planets to colonize, a class 14 planet can be made halfway decent and the AI won't colonize it.

I always buy 2 colony ships and that's usually enough to get me another two stars if I'm lucky enough to have landed in a good spot.

And I always set the Habitable planets setting to Everywhere, because then that increases my chance of getting a better starting planet, and increases the chance of there being good planets nearby. Then I set the AI to Average or higher, and I still get a pretty challenging game.

I just prefer giving myself a lot of advantages and then just making the AI harder.

I'm going to modify the economy so that you get more money from taxation.

You wuldn't believe how touchy it is though, here's one of the formulas:

fTaxesCollected = pCiv->ulTaxRate * sqrt( pow(ulPlanetQuality, 1.12) * pow(ulPopulation,.18) );

So let's say you are on a planet with 30B people and it's a class 22 planet. Taxrate is 33%.

Your base taxes would be 4.71 before you start adding in your improvements and such.

Now, let's say I change the .18 to .20.

Now you're at 5.22 which is actually quite a big percentage change. That's what I'm going to do for this next build though to see if that helps.

Hopfull after this update I also see a effect of a Bank. As mentioned in a other tread I dont see any effect after bilding a bank. Perhaps the Fedarlist and the Bank Economy Bonus dont stack?

In my curent game I dont have any money problemes I could even put up the Goverment Exendatures to 70%. Playing Fedarlist and build Social Projects that increase either Moral or Planet Quality helps a lot.

My problem is that AI (at maximum) gets BB (battleship) while I'm struggling to get defenders :(
I'm lost.

In an upcomign beta, the tech tree is going to get an overhaul so that battle ships come later.

Right now, there aren't that many ships in, we have 18 more ships here that we haven't thrown in utnil we get balancing more complete.
