Does this mean you can embargo a major race, but lacking the
ai...the major race does nothing to revenge itself upon you
for taking this act?

Right. The AI won't create it's own embargos, and they don't realize that you have an embargo against them.  But the hit detection enforces the embargo.

Also, along the same vein, if you have allies and you set up an embargo, will your allies be forced to do the same, as in times of war? It seems that an embargo, in the game as in real life, would be useless if you could not get several people to enforce it. Think about it, if you set up an embargo against someone, then they would just go somewhere else. If you have two allies out of five remaining majors, the target of the embargo will be forced to trade with the fifth race, not in your alliance. Then, if you blasted the fifth race to smithereens, the race against whom you had levied the embago would be in deep crap.

Um, I don't think that your allies will enforce the embargo.  I don't know about the AI setting up their own embargos or reacting to them.

Seems to me we can already somewhat make trade embargos by shooting down the mini-freighters. And the AI does handle this quite well. Maybe that's the reason why there will be no AI for embargoes.

An embargo is when you surround a port and disallow any ships from entering, space or otherwise :)

So... i guess there will be a flag of some sort and you will cease to allow ANY trading from ANY faction with that particular port.

I suppose they could do like a diplomatic trigger of some sort and maybe none of your allies would trade. And i guess THAT is the question........
