* Tech tree modified to put trade behind diplomacy

* Bug fix that caused AI's to declare war early on you.

* Attempt to fix problem where not all ships are called before auto-turning.

* Lots of crashes fixed due to AI being set to "dumb" or lower

* Domestic policy screen "Stats" now functions.

* Domestic Policy Graphs screen put in but doesn't yet do anything.

"* user suggestion implemented: You can now see on the mini map the locations of stars."

Yikes. What a cheat. Please make it into a research item instead? "Space plotting" or something.

NO I like it this way, it's more realistic since we can see stars that are thousands of light years away, yet we can not know what is around them until we get closer.

I think this is a good and also sensible thing I mean look at the real world we have been mapping the locations of stars for Centuries, we know where stars are we just don’t know anything about there systems eg. If people live there or not. Point of example the game Stars! you could see all the stars on the map to start with but you still had to go there to find out if they were habitable, empty etc. and if you didn't have scanners covering that region later on then you didn't know if someone moved into that system till you went by with a ship equipped with scanners or went into the system. I think it’s fully feasible that if as in GalCiv we have developed Hyperdrive that we would at least know where stars are.

I dont agree. And why doing the real-life comparison?

Well, then you might want to say that it should show all systems X quadrants away from the home system, and not the entire space.

I cant (IRL) see all systems in the universe, can you?

Hmmm, I just like it the old way, now it's easy to set courses for new systems. One thing I might go for is if it's different depending on which game you start. For the easy/normal games, go ahead and show all if ya like, but for the harder, more advanced games do the old way. Please.

One of the other features we've been talking about implementing is the "Ship Ranges" idea, where a vessel can only travel X distance from a home star system.

This cap would be harsher on colony ships, so even though you can see the systems 6 sectors away, getting there will now take even more time.

As well, this will cut down on the overexpansion issue alot of players have, where the other alien races send out massive fleets of colony ships at the games' beginning.

Fredrik: Would this proposed feature quell your dilike for the current "star system display" issue?

Knowing details about star systems beyond sensor range (and that includes telescopes) seems wrong to me. In the OS2 version there was a wonder (a special class of social project) called "eyes of the universe" that gave a complete view of all the star systems in the galaxy (why it wasn't called "eyes of the galaxy", I don't know). The realism of having limited knowledge of the galaxy and the futuristic nature of such a wonder provided, to me, a very appealing counterpoint that enhanced my enjoyment of the game.

No detailed comment has been made of how close to the OS2 game the windows version will be. This makes it hard for me to develop a sense of what is to come and what comments I might like to make. I fear at times I might be suggestion A when B might be a more appropriate suggestion. Hence I tend to "wait and see".

Cheers,
Jack

BoogieBac: No not really. I still think it's cheating.

But perhaps that's just because Im used to the old OS/2-version and how that one worked. Sure the game need to be developed further since so many years have passed, but this one I dont like :) But hey - that's me, hehe.

And about ranges...it's an ok thing to implement I guess. (?) I never used it in the OS/2 version tho, since it was optional. Id still disable it if I got the setting for it. Im not sure it benifits the game in any way..but some seems to want it.

I still think that a solution where the minimap display differs depending on the difficulty settings (all visable for easy setting) and which research tech you've completed (for the hard setting)

How can you tell what version of the beta you are playing? On the Dregin Net game screen, it shows I have 0.3.001 installed, but I have no idea what version that may be.

Also, the game crashes repeated when I click on a cruiser using the ship screen. What do I need to send to you to have the bug squashed?
