Minor Stole All the Drengin Techs Message

Have anyone ever got the message: "Such and such minor has stolen all the technology from the Drengins and is willing to trade them, preferably for some star systems"? I got this message while being made photon fodder by the Dregs and all this technology would of been nice except I couldn't find the right minor! First of all the message caught me by surprise and I wasn't sure who was the "thief." I went into all the minors (and majors, just in case I got the msg wrong) and there was no techs available to be traded for. Is there a way to refer back to those messages or are they gone forever?

Paper and pen are now close at hand during gameplay. (:(

I had this in my current game. the alexians stole the techs from the dregin. Unfortunately even when I offered a decent solar system they wouldn't accept. I suppose I could have offered a few solar systems but they only had 8 techs.

Anyways to your question. Do you have all the techs that the dregins do?

No, Northstar, I didn't. It would of been nice and I had a system all picked out for them that was, ehmm, inconvenient for me to have. This might of been some sort of bug because I went to every civ looking for a grocery list of techs but didn't see them. Certainly didn't want to leave that gift on the table!

I noticed an earlier tread that talked about the ability to steal techs but no one had my issues. I think it occurred because I was getting creamed and my personal theory is that Gal Civ is designed to help out in some instances when the help is needed.

Oh, well, thanks for the response!

You haven't explored the map area where the minor is yet if you couldn't contact them. Sometimes its worth it. But you do not have to give em planets if you don't wan't to. They'll take tech for tech too just like normal. I suspect it gives a slight boost to the value of planets to that race for awhile. But I've also noticed they tend to give more when the planet is close to them rather than the other side of the map.

Thanks for the info, Pontius. So you get event reports about civs even if you haven't had contact with them. Makes sense as I couldn't get past the Dregs in my attempt at mastering larger maps.

The current game I'm playing, the Dregs ain't getting the chance to cut me off! ;)

Thanks again.

Yes, you can get events that affect a race you have not met yet. In fact, even new races can pop up and while they are announced, they won't be revealed if they are in a hidden section still. Looks like you need to sneak some long range scouts behind Drengin lines...

I love when a minor does that. Sometimes you'll get good tech out of it.

Hm. Does this ever happen to the player -- a minor stealing all your techs, that is?

Minors who appear later in the game seem to have all of your techs. For this reason, I launch a transport as soon as I see a minor appear. :D

It's very annoying...

I'm a fan of being technologically advanced and bankrupting the aliens as much as possible (My last game I made 233BC a turn with an average income of -1066BC :D ) But then a new minor pops up and argh! He's got my tech and my cash and builds up wonders and trade goods. :(

Stupid uppity minors...

I love new minors. I can always sell them all my tradegoods for all their money for many turns. Then I send in a transport.

That's what I do! {feels special}

New minors are the only folks willing to folk out huge doles of cash at Maso.

I wished I had them in the early game.

quote from thread somewhere - 'Then I send in Transports' . . .

That's cruel! . . . hehe (sneeky Cotal takes notes . . . sell them ALL your 'transports' and send in your trade goods . . . haha! I am invincible now!)
