DICE Closes New York Studio

Trauma Studios Closed

Digital Illusions has announced that it will be closing its New York office, Trauma Studios. All twelve of the employees have been offered positions at the head office in Stockholm, Sweden. Trauma Studios was recently acquired by DICE in September 2004 and was purchased for the rights to trademarks and a new game concept. The closing of the studio will allow DICE to "not pay the supplement payment of 200,000 USD as agreed upon at the time of the acquisition of Trauma Studios," as well as allowing DICE to reorganize their development studios. Canadian DICE will be focusing on expansion packs while the headquarters in Sweden will continue to develop full games, but will help lower cost by outsourcing elementary graphics to cheaper areas such as the Ukraine.
