Strabge sounds - loud clicks/pops

I get alot of annoying morse code-like clicks and pops during gameplay. I've tried turning off music/fx/sounds to no effect. Anyone else have this problem?

I too am seeing degeneration of my sound system, but not just with GalCiv. It even appears in the system sounds when I boot my system. I have seen this before and the only way I have gotten rid of it was to rebuild my OS. Now it is back. I have no idea where the problem originates, but it seems to creep in gradually.

The other games/mp3's I play sound fine. I'm using my motherboard's built-in C-Media 8738 sound chip with Logitech 560-Z speakers (I know, I know, an average sound chip with great speakers doesn't make much sense, but that's the way I set up my system!). I don't know if they've been testing this game with many Windows XP systems, cause it has more bugs that a stary cat has fleas.

Still like it alot, but the continual crashes are getting to me!
