Not all ships found -- not all ships moved with autopilot

I'm playing in a gigantic galaxy and have *lots* of ships running around. However, I know that some ships are never "found," that is, I can click on the "find" button, and the ship has movement left, but the focus doesn't shift to that ship, and if I move the last ship that *is* findable, then the turn advances.

I believe that some ships on autopilot don't move, and I also believe that I have some ships that are invisible and not moving -- the only evidence that they exist is that there is an opening in the fog of ignorance, but no ship or planet in the center of the opening.

Have similar problem with Auto Pilot ships not moving.
In fact in a game being played now, two of my Colony Ships
did not move at all, no matter what I tried.
Lost two Systems to another race as a result.

As the colonization period in my gigantic galaxy ended, I started having fewer (if any) problems. My guess is that you have a limit on the number of ships in space and when you have more ships than that, not all of them get a chance to move.

I am also seeing problems with the "next ship" selection algorithms. It was very smooth in build Beta 1-1C but now it is really failing to advance. I have many colony ships on autopilot, three scouts on manual, and a survey ship on manual. It only selects two of the manual ships and, after I have moved them, refuses to select any others. Consequently, none of the autopilot ships get moved. Since I have autoturn off, it sits there on the second ship and shows 0 moves left. If I push turn, of course, all unmoved ships loose their moves. If I go looking for one of the unmoved ships and manually select and move it the "next ship" selection algorithm seems to progress, sometimes to completion, sometimes not.

I have even resorted to using the ship list to see whether all of the ships have moved or not, and found that the "moves left" field for each ship can not be relied upon. It will show lots of ships that have not moved at all but if I select such a ship and the ship has moved the ship detail window shows it has moved and the ship list entry gets updated correspondingly. So to get a true picture of status of all of the ships you HAVE to select each ship in turn from the ship list. This is also not good.

As the war period in my gigantic galaxy started up, I started having lots more problems with not finding all of the ships.

Another possible aspect of this problem is that ships on autopilot that reach their destination and still have moves left are not selected for completion of their moves. This was working fine in the first Beta build.

I am experiencing this problem now as well. On the Gigantic map that I selected almost none of my autopilot ships are moving, but from what I can see, the AI playsers ships are not having this problem.

I may have discovered a way to avoid being affected by this problem. I have turned on "watch autopilot ships" and "watch enemy ships" and the problem seems to have dissappeared. I am not sure if this is really helps or not, because the number of ships I have on autopilot has also been reduced since I have colonized a lot of planets, so will everyone else having this problem try this and see what happens? It may have taken more than one turn to be affective for me, so go several turns to be sure.

I have both enabled and am now having this problem. This is the first game that I've played with a Gigantic map. I did not notice this problem with a Huge map, but that's not saying it didn't happen either...:)

OK. It must have something to do with how many ships on autopilot one has.

I originally played my gigantic game in the watch enemy and autopilot ships mode. So that isn't the solution. This should have been a simple bug to squash.

Something I just noticed. On the rare occasion when I have all of them on autopilot, it seems to work fine, regardless of how many ships I have active, but as soon as one of them drops out of autopilot, or another ship is built, the game starts losing the next ship to move half way through again.

Nate,

But how many ships did you have?

Cari,

I have been trying to get some feel for what the threshhold is on the number of ships. It looks like it is more associated with the number on autopilot than anything esle. The threshhold for this failure seems to be 30 or more on autopilot.

Well, I had 40-somne colony ships enroute, somewhere from 12 to 20 transports, two freighters, one of those trade ship things that are listed as 'decoritave' class, the U.S.S Hero and various military vessels generated by anomalies.

Trying both the Gigantic Galaxy and the Large galaxy levels it seems the problem is acute in the Gigantic Galaxy, did not notice in the Large Galaxy.

I just discovered that, sometimes, clicking on an unmoved autopiloted ship in the ship list will cause it and a few others to move. This is, however, a rare occurance.
