Some suggestions

Although I love playing this game so much I took Tuesday off to enjoy it, there are few things about the interface that I feel need improvement. A pulldown menu to select which 'sort by' you want for the planets would be nice. I find it a bit irritating to have to constantly scroll back and forth through the selections to get the list I want. Being able to customize this list would be nice so I could put class, income and production side by side (the three I use most).

On the governor screen it would be nice if we are shown what the improvement does. This would help tremendously when deciding which project you want the governor to be responsible. The only place I can see this currently is on the planet screen and if I look through to see what I want it changes what I am building and then I have to remember what it was I was building in the first place.

On the research screen alot of the times the text describing the tech runs down past the bottom of the box and is blocked. You can't scroll the box to see what the rest of the writing is. Also on this screen it would nice if you could click on the improvements the tech offered to see what they did. Alot of you have all this memorized but us newer players don't yet know what x or y tech does so when choosing to research a new tech this information would be great.

Also, is there a way to turn off the tool tips on the mini-map. Most of the time if I get the cursor near the buttons the tool tip appear and won't go away for several seconds.

If any of this is implemented in 1.09 please disregard (I don't have access to 1.09)

OMG, I have thought that numerous times!! The only thing more annoying than it not being a drop-down, is that they have built some lame delay into the scroll arrows, so that you have to click-pause-click-pause ad nauseum to get to the other category you want to sort by.

Yes, that is my single biggest complaint as well. I posted a thread long long ago about that very thing. Click (pause) Click (pause) Click (paus.. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRG! :sniff!:

As long as we're on a "wish list" here, how about a main map with a zoom control? Playing Large galaxies, it's not fun trying to pick out the icons on the mini-map. With the late-game slowdown, I haven't tried anything bigger than Large, but they must be a real picnic.

The mini-map DOES have zoom control, at least for me it does. I play version 1.05 and I use the wheel on my mouse to zoom in and out of the mini-map. It also is useful when trying to load only 10 million colonist into a colony ship from a planet with mega billions.

Yes, I stumbled across the zooming mini-map, but it's not as useful as a zooming main map would be. Hate to say it, but navigating the galaxy is one area where the MOO series is superior to GalCiv.
