space junk and exploration craft

Will the AI use the space "junk" in future releases? Right now I am the only on collecting the stuff. On the large map there is a lot of it. After this my ship was a super duper battleship! I other crafts should have the benefit of finding some (not all) of the different debris.

Also the purple "fields" that let you finish a research project seem a little odd. In the game I just finnished all I did was search them out. There were a lot of them. I was able to finish on project that was supposed to take me over 600 months(?) to complete. Whenever I would find one of these fields I would change my research to whatever would take the longest and presto! it was done! Maybe it should only be worth only so many months of research. Also, If the AI was to take advantage of these also it might seem a little bit more "normal".

----my thoughts....for now!

thanks for the reply Frogboy,

As to the research thing. Is this intended with the purple "fields"? It seems kinda wrong that I am able to finish a research project in one month that was originally supposed to take more than 600 months!

Maybe the player should be locked into a research choice. That way they wouldn't select a long project unless they know there is a "field" near by.

I like the research anomalies as they are. And locking us into a research once we select one would be to introduce the restraints evident in CIV 1, 2, and 3. Conditions can occur in the game that make it necessary to change techs. I like the fact that this GalCiv remembers where you left off on one tech if you switch to another.

Cheers,
