SAG Rejects Game Contract
Actor Unions Split

Reuters is reporting that the Screen Actors Guild, SAG, has rejected the recently negotiated contract with the video game industry. The announcement comes after a vote by SAG's national executive committee to reject
the deal, after it was recommended by other SAG members. The contract has caused a rift in SAG, creating two parties that can't seem to agree on a newly structured deal.
The other side of the coin has the smaller actor's union, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, AFTRA, sticking with the deal that they jointly negotiated with SAG.
The news should have little effect on the voice quality in the video game industry since most actors who do the voices are in both unions, meaning they can work through AFTRA. On top of that, most games today are produced without any union talent, even the best AAA titles, but that amount is decreasing.
