Dial up connection problem

This just began happening and I can't seem to stop it! Whenever I click on the Galciv icon, as the game begins to start, in invokes my dial up connection, it appears that the game will not run without my being online, is there a way to turn this off?? Unfortunately I cannot get a dsl or cable connection where I live, but I cannot tie up the phone for an extended period.

Hmm, that's odd. It's just supposed to check for a connection to the internet, not connect. Are you playing out of the DGM or just from the exe?

Henning is not the only one to have seen this. I had this happen once or twice. I don't know if something I did on my PC corrected the problem or if just re-booting fixed it for me.

I have discovered that it occurs once I have had a dialup connection, (I am running windows XP). The only method of stopping this is to reboot before starting Galciv.
