no pic

are you using window blinds? somethings have issue with it
try excluding it in 'per applications' when in 'configure'. click add then browse to the exe - try it making sure the only thing checked is don't skin this.

this is after install but before loading any of the apps. directly after install and reboot, QW does not open, it would open directly before the install.

I'm having the same trouble with Quicken. The same thing is happening with Paint Shop Pro 9 as well. It also seems to have messed up my McAfee Internet Security Suite.

Have you been able to resolve this issue?

Hi all. I am having similar problems. My quicken seems to run fine, but my paintshop pro stopped running, my windows seems more unstable and lexmark all in one printer/scanner software doesnt work right, and my nusphere php editor debugger can't properly start. I to have paint shop pro which doesnt start and Norton Internet Security and Systemworks giving me problems. Maybe much more. I reinstalled my system from scratch and installed stardock and I still have the same problems. So im guessing now that it is stardock. This is really sad to even have to mess with this. Untill this is resolved I most certainly will not recommend this latest edition and may even ask for my money back.

Hi,

I have had a similar experience. Reinstalled Windows XP Pro and all my softare then my ObjectDesktop applications. After which many programs would not run - Ulead PhotoImpact 10, Freehand, Visual Studio .NET. I have had to do a clean install again.

Most would work in safe mode but not Freehand.

Decided to foregoe installing OD as I need to study.

Do you have Enhanced Dialog installed? That has been linked to many programs and routines not loading (it even disables anti-virus apps!).

Not to self: Don't buy Object Desktop.
Stardock should have a 30-Day trial or something for their "Premium" software. It makes perfect sense. I guess they aren't because of cracks you can find in File-Sharing.
But seriously, why don't they?

i actually managed to get my programs working again.

I restarted my pc in safemode. deleted every file i could find installed by stardock. Looked in the program files directory and program files/common.

I figured this out after i uninstalled the programs. Found that there still files left. Tried to delete the files and was told that windows still using them. Safe mode and delete. Also I scraped my regedit for all occurences of stardock software but I dont know how that helped. In anycase I can now use paintshopt pro and my php editor is working.

Sorry for sloppiness but im rushed.

I just updated with stardock central and it trashed PSP 9 and Photo Impact 10 as well. Damn, I wish I had seen this first! Any solution other than having to totally wipe the system and clean install windows. Stardock and Windowblinds will not EVER be reinstalled on any of my computers.

Hey guys, seems I'm having the same issue as well! Can any of you check if after installing Stardock products your Logical Disk Manager stops working and gives you a "Server Execution Failed" error? (Rightclick on My Computer, click Manage, then click on Disk Management and wait). Also, do your apps give you "OLE initalization failed. Libraries might be missing" errors? I really hope Stardock fixes this! For now I'm going to an older build of Windowblinds which didn't give me any errors(4.51.00).

I to have had Paint Shop Pro 9 and Quicken 2005 crash and cannot be opened after the latest update to Stardock Central (I updated 7-23-05). Hopefully Stardock will fix quickly.

Are you able to provide any clarification on which components were installed exactly when you reinstalled ObjectDesktop? I know you say you installed "all" of them, but was it "All" of them, or just the -main- few?

A couple things you can try. - relating to Windowblinds:

1) Add an exclusion for these programs in the Windowblinds config using the "Per Application" setting.

2) Before launching the program, hold down the "Ctrl" key. Windowblinds will not attempt to skin the program which is being launched.

The trouble started when I updated Stardock Central and rebooted. I tried the exclusion in WindowBlinds and the Ctrl key but both did not work. Any more suggestons?

any of you guys also using (or were prior to uninstalling stuff) IconPackager?

I have got problems with the following applications after having done the latest updates (Jul 28,) on Desktop Central of the major apps as Desktop X, WindowBlinds, IkonX etc:
iMatch; photo manager, not skinnable
Dantz Retrospect 6.5; back-up utility, not skinnable
Pinnacle Studio 9; not skinnable

I have tried to exclude them from being skinned in WindowBlinds, but no luck.
When starting the apps the .exe files show up in the Processes tab in the Task Manager but not in the Application tab.

I really like the Stardock products and I have never had any problems before, but this time something has gone seriously wrong with one of the updated apps. The worse is that I have spent the an entire day to roll-back my computer to an earlier image and try to pin down the problem and everything worked fine until I did the Stardock update so I have no doubt that one or more of those apps are the culprit. The last doubt I had disappeared when I saw this post in the forum.

Stardock, please fix EXTREMELY fast!!

I would like to add that I have tried to uninstall and re-install both iMatch and Retrospect and they still do not work after re-install.

Please make sure there is not an iprepair.dll in the IconPackager directory. If there is, attempt to delete it. If it won't go: Start / Run

regsvr32 /u "C:\program files\stardock\object desktop\iconpackager\iprepair.dll" and reboot. Then remove it.

Uninstall the enhanced dialog beta as well if you're running it.

Without physical access to the machines, the symptoms sound like the iprepair.dll issue from early this month.

Nakor, you are an angel. That takes care of the problem. All apps now work. Thanks for quick response. Question though; why did this happen at this update and never before and will the problem return again?

Having spent two wasted days restoring my systems and reloading programs, I used google search to discover that all my problems (ie. in not being able to run Quicken etc etc) were due to the recent update to Stardock (related programs). When I applied the fix recommended by Nakor (removing iprepair.dll from the iconpackager directory) the problem was solved. However, the level of frustration is such that I no longer have confidence in these programs I wish to delete them entirely from my system. When I used the windows uninstall program my system hung. Can someone please advise how I can delete these programs from my system. What is the most frustrating is that I paid money for software that is not up to even free ware standards of quality.
