What is Smart Exception? What is MCPServer?

Having installed the DGM, I click on the SE icon to see what it does. Nothing happens. However, having installed the DGM, now I get an error message when I boot up XP: 'MCPServer needs to close.'

Found the EXE files for these programs in the 'Common Files' section of my 'Program Files' directory. Now back to the subject line. What do these programs DO? :notsure:

Smartexception intercepts application crashes and collects and formats data from the crashing application so one could send the data (manually) to the developers, giving them a hint of where the problem are so they can fix it.

With GalCiv it also puts the debug.err-info into the crash-file.

You'll find the crash-files in the smartex-directory, they will be labled .CRA You can open them with notepad or your favourite text-editor.

I also get the MCP-whatever error at start-up (win2k). Somewhat annoying, so if anyone has a clue as to what it might be....???

I didn't start getting it until I installed the new dgm and it installed SE over my exiting version. But then I got it on this computer, too, and it has never had either dgm or SE installed on it. We have someone working on it, but he has another project too. You could delete SE out of your startup folder if you're sick of the error message.

I believe the error message is fixed with the latest version of the DGM (0.66b).
