Yahoo/Reuters and The Hollywood Reporter have found that the popular cop action game from Gathering of Developers, Max Payne, has been optioned for the movies by 20th Century Fox. Max Payne is a story about a cop turned DEA agent after his wife and child are killed by thugs hopped up on a drug called Valkyr. He is later framed for the murder of his partner by the mob he seeks revenge on, now turning the police force against him.
The movie will focus on the origin of the good cop turned vigilante and co-producer Scott Faye hopes to create his own Dirty Harry-esque movie.
"I think this is a real actor's part because although the story will have action and intrigue, at its core it's a story about a man who loses everything in life that's dear to him," said Scott Faye, who will produce with Julie Yorn.
